What happened to the last 1/3 of my ride?

On the ride, the Newton was displaying all aspects of the ride for the entire ride. However, when I downloaded the file, the last 40 minutes was missing. The Newton recognized an out-and-back portion of the ride and that is where the recording ended. This was not the end of the ride. I continued on a different route home. The ride ended where it started. I also noticed that in the file name, the total distance is zero.

What happened?

Hmm, looks like you battery was quite low. Obviously you plugged it in to download the ride but did you happen to notice what the batt percentage was at the beginning or anywhere along the ride?

When I powered off, left arrow, it showed 80%. I find it curious it stopped recording at the end of the O&B. Just coincidence?

Yes, just coincidence about the O&B section. Can you upload another ride, either the one before or after this particular ride.

I've attached a ride from today, essentially the same ride, slightly different route to and from O&B points, a little shorter route. I've included yesterday's ride, the one in question. I realize I corrected for "ride ended where it began" which skewed the elevations. I corrected both rides for start elevation only - 95m.

Just a bit of background about the charging on my Newton. I seem to experience the same as many others in that the unit never fully charges. I can leave it plugged in for a couple of days, and it will never show 100%. I think the most charge I have ever seen is 96%.

This is unrelated (I think) but I noticed that the minimum elevation on today's ride registered 32m. I was at sea level, maybe 5m. My ride start is 95m which I determined from a land survey of my house. Why is the min. elevation incorrect. I don't think there would be that much barometric pressure drop in 1 hour.

The same with the ride in question.

Should I start another thread?

Ok, here's a good one!! Today's ride consisted of a short 15 minute ride through town to meet up with a friend. I waited for my friend about 15 minutes. Then we started three laps of Stanley Park and then returned home. However, when I started the downlaod process, I noticed two file, one from June. I clear the memory after every ride. The ride dated today didn't contain the first part of the ride! That, it turns out, was the file dated June! The larger file name indicated zero km. The June file showed no start time. What's going on?
Also, not the elevations.

I suggest you manually erase all ride data, then do a hard reset (left arrow, middle button, right arrow) simultaneously. It sounds like something got scrambled.
Set your date and time and you should be good to go.

Will I need to re-do the cal ride, etc?

No, you will only have to set the date and time. Confirm that your profile is still set to which ever number you're using. That's it.

No probs today. Hopefully your suggestion is the solution.
