Wireless and GenI

Post by benlane »

I have received a wireless stem mount. I am awaiting delivery of my gen III upgrade unit.
In the interim period can I use the Gen1 unit on the wireless mount and pick up HR etc. I can't remember if the GenI unit is compatible with wireless or not.

According to my memory (some details are fuzzy), yes.
The Gen 2 improved the setup procedure some.
If I remember correctly, for gen1, you have to reset the sensors before paring.
You do the sensor reset by momentarily installing the battery in reverse. I am
not sure why that is needed each time you pare, but that is how I remember it.

Someone please correct this if I am wrong.

As long as the Gen 1 has FW 1.18 the pairing process is the newer easier process, no need to flip batteries. Your Gen 1 should behave like a Gen 2 for the setup process portion, including calibration, coastdowns, etc.

Obviously there were tons of improvements from Gen 1 to Gen but the big change from Gen 1 to Gen 2 was the fix for excessive vibration.

Thanks guys. I am sure the GenIII will be here soon, but I may as well get the wireless set up in readiness.
