AeroPod, PowerPod and Newton

What is the clear ring on the iPro mount? It's 2 or 3 mm in width and sits round the outside of the silver pins.

Mine came partially adrift and so I had to remove it as it was snagging the pins.

Is this a water seal - and am I OK without it? (Although I must say that the head unit doesn't feel as firmly mounted as previously).

I believe it is made from nylon and replacements can be purchased from Velocomp/iBike.

Just to close this one off, the Velocomp shipping dept are sending me some spare rings (thanks to Jay, Sandy and Aaron).
