Calibration/Coast down Help

I am trying to calibrate my iBike Pro III with my new TT bike. I successfully completed the calibration ride and 3 good coast downs. Then the next 5 or 6 coast down attempts failed, I think because the wind started gusting. The set up instructions say 5 to 8 coast downs are optimal. They also state that if you don't follow the coast down procedures exactly the calibration will be worse. My questions are: Does only 3 successful coast downs qualify as not following the procedure exactly? If yes, then do I have to start over with whole FAST START/CAL RIDE process? Or, if no, can I just go out and do more coast downs some other time? Thanks

You're correct. Doing lousy quality coastdowns can mess things up more than not doing coastdowns at all. Doing three coastdowns is OK as long as the results are reasonably close to each other. You'll see that in the coastdown/calride analysis screen. Off to the right the aero numbers for the three will be shown and as long as one isn't in left field you should be OK.

Finally, if you decide that the three coastdowns are not close enough in results then by all means plan another set of coastdowns another day. However you don't need to do another calride. Don't erase the memory in the unit and the next time it will download the old calride and the old and new coastdowns.

Redfern;
Thanks for the reply.The good coastdowns I have are all pretty close. Will they be incorporated with any additional ones I follow-up with or will they just be excess?

OK, when you get into the coastdown/calride screen at the upper right there will be a dropdown saying Select Calibration Ride:

Here you select your calride. In your case there should be only one. Below, Step 2 you select the coastdowns you're working with.

I believe they will be incorporated, sorry I can't say for sure because I haven't done coastdowns in quite some time. Anyways, you'll be able to tell by the date of the cal ride and the dates of the coastdowns.

If you're unsure just post the cal ride file and we'll have a look.
