I upgraded my iBike Sport to the GT version and I have to say after a few teething troubles and tweaking this little computer is awesome. I did a side by side comparison to the Computrainer and the variation is exactly what the iBike team claim....so good work on an excellent product.
My only gripe is that the Average Watts displayed on the iBike is different to the averages that are being received by the Garmin. For instance on todays 30km training ride the iBike is reporting an average of 270w while the Garmin that is receiving the data from the ibike is reporting 354w average. All other data is identical between the two units apart from the averages in wattage, so why the huge difference???
If anyone has some suggestions or ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: iBike and Garmin 705 differences
The only thing I can think of which may be affecting this, is that smart recording maybe switched on in your Garmin unit, and you maybe using auto pause/stop. You need to change these on your Garmin. Switch off auto pause/stop, and change smart recording to 1 second recording in settings. Also change to 1 second recording in your ibike.

NCH1, many thanks for the prompt reply. I thought that might be the case, does the ibike not have an auto pause setting also?
As for the one minute recording for the ibike, how do i set this up? I can't find documentation on this.

Re: iBike and Garmin 705 differences
The ibike, I believe, does not as such have an auto pause. If you are in interval mode, or doing the fitness test, you have the ability to press the centre button to pause, and to recommence the ride by pressing it again. But in general, the ibike does not record any wattage if you are stationary, despite continuing to record. What I mean by this is, is that after you have downloaded the data, you may see a flat line of zero watts recorded for a particular duration. For example, from the time you switched on the unit to do the Cal wind, to the time in which you commenced your ride.

I don't have my ibike with me at the moment, but I think 1 second recording rate is in the user sequence in settings.

Re: iBike and Garmin 705 differences
In hindsight, the recording rate is not the issue, though useful to have both the units synchronised. The main issue is that you do not have zero averaging switched to on under settings>Data recording (on the Edge). As soon as you stop pedalling, at say 300 watts because of a downhill section, the Edge will stop recording at that point-frozen at 300 watts until you begin pedalling again.

Ok issue resolved.
Also found that I need to turn the Garmin on first for some reason! Todays training ride produced perfect results 288watts over 2 hours of riding.
Many thanks for all the great information......just wish i was able to stop the wattage cutting out when I go over bumps.
