AeroPod, PowerPod and Newton

No I don't own one yet. But I am much closer, now that the garmin compatibility has been achieved. I did have a few questions.

1. I would love to see some people on how they mount both their ibike and edge. I don't plan on giving up my 305 since i like the GPS functions while riding.

2. Is there an issue with say the ibike on the stem and something like the edge on the handlebar? It would seem that the edge might block the wind from the ibike a little on one side. I don't know what if any effect that might have on the ibike.

3. I would prefer to stem mount so I can use a VRK. Should I get a flatter stem? I don't know how tilted the unit can actually be. This is my current bike setup:

I have a Giant OCR LTD with a long stem. At this time I have my Edge 305 as a handlebar mount just to the left of the stem and the iBike just to the right of the stem. I have run some very rough roads without any dropouts, although in general the roads I ride are very smooth. My 705 will be here in a day or two and I plan on using the same setup. I like the handlebar mount because it doesn't force me to look down as much espcially when standing and really pushing. It's also easier to keep the iBike virtually level.

My stem is flipped over so it is fairly flat, but it still is up quite a bit. On your bike, you would need a special stem mount to minimize the lift.

If you are set on the stem mount so that you can run the VRK (god knows that around here you need it for all of the rough chip seal), you'll probably need to flip your stem, if it's possible to do so. Your current angle looks pretty steep.

You've seen my TCR. The current stem set-up on it, imho, barely makes it.

I like the stem mount because fore-aft rotations of the mount are non-existant. The handlebar mount needs to be totally solid. A dab of ShoeGoo under the mount (between the double stick tape and the mount) would guarentee a rock-solid connection free of rotation for whichever mount you select.
