average 1.4 tailwind??
what's up with this?
bike was on it's side in the back of the car for 15min on the way there...then maybe not a full 10min to adjust to temp. The temp data is off -- ride started at 64 and dropped to 57 by the end.
is it wind scaling?

Use the Analyze Wind feature, set average wind to 0, and you'll be OK.
Assuming you did a Cal Wind prior to this ride, based on this ride file your wind scaling factor should be 0.67. Your corrected profile is attached.

In the iBike software - menu Profiles, Edit Profiles - then there is a button to Import.
This will open a file open dialogue.
Use that to import the file John sent after you download to your desktop.

I'm noticing 1-1.5 mph tailwind averages, now that I look at other ride files
should I load the new profile into my iAero, and change the profile for these files?
or, is the profile correction only needed for the Nov 3 ride file?

I'm not seeing tailwinds. You may be showing that on the iBike during the ride because the wind scaling factor gives the impression of a tailwind. I think that with wind scaling numbers below 1 the displayed wind on the iBike will be less than reality. However, the calculated wattage is correct. These correct numbers become obvious one you download the ride and see that the iB3 average wind is higher than on the iBike during the ride. Again, the resultant wattage is correct.
If you look at the rides in iB3:
10-29-09 21 miles yields +.4 average wind
10-31-09 30 miles yields +.4 average wind
11-03-09 24 miles yields -.9 average wind
11-04-09 20 miles yields -.9 average wind
Assuming you're riding alone, I come up with wind scaling of .612. I don't want to confuse this since Velocomp certainly knows better than me. You might want to double check with them. I also see a huge difference because of tilt when looking at the Analyze Power on the closed loop ride. Was something loose?
I am curious about your HR and the steadiness it shows on certain portions of the ride. That doesn't make sense, although it's obviously not affecting the power data. I'm just curious about the HR. Also the fact that it drops to zero at times (and you're still with us!). Are you wearing your HR strap upside down? The logo must be upright.

all the charts and graphs whack my brain out
the more I have to possibly confuse me, the more confused I'll get

Based on the average ground wind speed of the closed loops, I wouldn't change a thing.
Which brings us to a point that I want to make. . .you can go crazy chasing your tail with the numbers for any power meter. I know people who hand weights from their crankset to check the torque of the power tap every time they ride.
If you are changing numbers in your profile after every ride then you won't know if the change in watts is due to you actually changing or because of some change you made. Once you get a good profile set up (which you have), then keep it, use it, and accept it. You will get consistent results and it's better than going into the profile everyday and possibly changing something that will lead to a large error.
Go out and have fun!

You might be making the same mistake I make occasionally - put the iBike on the bike and then transport to where you will be riding - at the very least (as pointed out by others) a RESET should be done when you are about to ride if this is the case.
Otherwise - find a spot to take a reading of tilt near where you are going to start your rides - check it before your start at that same location and you can quickly tell if anything about tilt is off.
