Jagged tilt lines. Can the ride be salvaged?
Jagged tilt lines. Can the ride be salvaged? Are my watts accurate if the tilt line is straight, but jagged? Or what if the tilt line swoops, but levels out? Will the watts be accurate where the line is straight? I can attach a ride if need be. Thanks.

Re: Jagged tilt lines. Can the ride be salvaged?
There seems to be quite a bit of discussion on the tilt screen in these forums!
The tilt screen gives the user an indication of where (and if) the iBike 2 "Analyze Power" function changes the ride file data. There are two main things that happen in the Analyze Power function: 1) if there are issues with the quality of the tilt calibration (green line slopes up or down excessively) the Analyze Power function fixes them; 2) if there are places where there is excessive vibration, the Analyze Power fixes them (vibration is a potential issue for Gen I units only).
The tilt line is derived from the accelerometer output. So, due to the sensitivity of the accelerometer the tilt lines will ALWAYS be jagged. This is completely normal and is due to the action of the legs pumping the pedals; each pedal stroke accelerates the bike momentarily, causing the accelerometer to respond accordingly and causing its signal to be "jagged". In fact, the jagged signal is one of the reasons the iBike is so accurate; the accelerometer is very sensitive and is being read many times per second!
If your tilt line is straight and has jags in it that is excellent; your iBike is working with maximum accuracy. If the line swoops and levels out the iBike 2 software will correct that portion of the ride as needed. If the swoop is of short duration there will be almost no effect on your overall ride results.
For Gen III units all of this analysis is done inside your Gen III in real time, so your on-the-bike accuracy is great and the tilt lines from Gen III units will be level but still have jags.
