Hello everyone:

I want to ask you all whether or not you know any existing mounting solution of the iBike Newton to an Aero cockpit (integrated stem and handlebar) where the tubes are oval and not round. One such model would be the Aero cockpit of Canyon Aeroad or new Scott Foil.

Is there any way of mounting the Newton on such a cockpit? Attached please find a link with an image of the cockpit: http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/product- ... del-129040

I wait for your feedback.

George.

We don't have any easy solution for this. The problem is that every bike manufacturer is creating their own unique stem and handlebars, making it impossible to provide a workable solution.

You MIGHT be able to fashion an aluminum bracket that attaches to the bolts beneath the stem (I'm guessing that there are bolts underneath), then attach the Newton's keyhole slide to the bracket.

Thanks for the feedback John! I was also thinking about that, but thought there may be an aftermarket solution already, like the K-Edge Newton Mount...
Probably I will have then to CNC machine an aluminium bracket (yes indeed, beneath the stem there are two bolts).

Best regards,

George.

If you make a mount please post images of it when possible!

I have just purchased the Canyon Aeroad, and as such, I must find a solution to mounting my PowerPod to it.

Either that or buy a Stages.

The mount that the PowerPod came with is excellent (as it's aluminum, not plastic like so many others. I wonder if whoever made that could make one for the Aeroad?

Once you get your bike take some pictures of its stem, particularly underneath it. My guess is that there are some screw holes. Perhaps something can be done (no promises!).

Hi John,

I'm really looking for the equivalent of the one that came with the PowerPod - one that goes around the bar like an O - not one that screws into it.

The reason is I'll be using up those screw holes with the mount Canyon has for that bar...

An oval, customized PowerPod mount will be quite expensive.

1) You will have to send a set of handlebars to us

2) We will need to need to figure out the exact shape of the handlebars

3) We will need to custom-cut an aluminum mount for your handlebars

My guess is that this will cost several hundreds of dollars.

Here's the mount we're looking for:

I knew it was out there considering the popularity of this bike.

This might work but one caution: it is made out of 3D plastic.

I don't know if this mount will be stiff enough but give it a try and let us know...

Good point. How will I know if it's stable enough? Thanks.

The only way to know is to buy one.

Hello,

I also have an oval one piece bar/stem (Pro) which has a two screw attachment point below the "stem".

I figured on making a simple aluminium bracket which would plug directly into the Newton slot but need to know two things:
- Dimensions of the chamfered bracket at the insertion point A) B) and C) in attached diagram and
- Thread of the bolt used - as over here everything is metric

The enclosed diagram shows the piece upside down... It is going to be pretty stable for sure

Make an aluminum plate, with a hole big enough to allow the PEM screw to go through it, then attach the Newton keyhole mount to it. Simple.....

I meant after I bought one and used it, how, in the data, would I know whether it was stable enough or not? What, in the data, would show that it was rough or bouncing? Would you expect to see the data drop to zero, go up high, have high fluctuations, etc?

If it is made out of aluminum that is thick enough so that it cannot flex, then it will work.
