memory full issue question

Post by ronpei »

I am wondering why it is not possible to have the memory management be a simple roll over system similar to what Garmin uses? I have used Garmin for many years and have never had to concern myself with memory full issues, they simply overwrite the oldest data in a simple roll over. I certainly do not know what iBike uses for memory allocation but would think that this would be a firmware thing that should be fixable rather than having to erase all of your memory to clear space. Just wondering why?

It sounds simple, but it isn't...this would require a complete re-write of our file storage system, both FW and SW.

With our current product line, you can record up to 768 hours of ride files without erasing the memory. That's a lot of riding!

understandable, just one of those "it would be nice" things, since it could be one less thing to have to deal with.
