Is it ok to charge the iBike with the iPhone charger adaptor and in the car etc? Now that we have the USB cable I would assume it is.

Yes, that will work.
Any USB charging device will work just fine with the Newton.

Is the connector on the Newton a Mini-A, Micro-B, something else? I have soooo many cables at home and only the cable supplied with the Newton actually plugs in.

Another couple of battery q's
1. My newton arrives with a dead battery.
2. Before first use I charged it to 100%. The next day it had lost about 10% charge. Is
this wrong?
3. After an hour if ergo work, it's winter here in Melbourne Australia, the battery has lost about
5% charge, maybe more.
4. Is there a recommended recharging cycle? Ie. use up the power then recharge to full or use then recharge then once a month fully drain then fully charge etc.
I will do some logging of the battery to see what the charge lose rate is.

It's not surprising that your Newton needed full charging. When we receive the batteries they have very little charge in them.
The battery will discharge a bit even when the Newton is "off".
We will ask battery supplier for recommended charging method; for what it's worth, I find that, by the time I've downloaded and looked at my rides, the battery is almost fully recharged.

I just got back from a non biking holiday and both Newton batteries had been drained to the point where the computer would not start up.
Should the Ibike be used/recharged once a week ?

The Newton will draw a small amount of power even when it is "off". It's OK if it drains so that a total recharge is necessary; all memory is intact (except date/time) and it will recharge in about 2 hours.

Just received my Newton+ and charging it for first time. There is no indication on the screen that it is charging. How do you tell when it completely charged? (I have checked with Isaac and the device is connected)

Assuming you have FW6.03 then hit the left button once and you will see the battery screen. The unit charges VERY quickly.
