Phone call strangeness

Today while commuting in to work, I had to join a call about 2 miles from the office. I initiated the call from my bluetooth headset, the phone app took over, I rode about .25 miles while things connected and so forth, then I stopped to participate in the call for about 15 minutes. Went back to iBike app and continued my ride. Everything on-screen *appeared* to be normal as I rode the rest of the way in, but when I sent the ride file to myself I noticed that I was 1.5-1.75 miles shy of the actual ride mileage (~11 miles instead of 12.7 miles).
Any idea what may have happened? I've *received* and made calls before with no apparent loss of data, this is the first time there's obvious data loss from the ride. I think the only thing different this time is that I started the call with my bluetooth headset instead of the home button on the phone in the phonebooth.
One other thing I've noticed is that if I leave iBike *once* to switch to the phone app and then return to the iBike and resume, everything seems to be fine, but if I leave iBike *twice* (i.e. to switch to the phone app to turn off/on mute) then iBike ends the current ride and starts a new ride. Annoying, but not data loss.
Any word on when the App update is expected?
