Stem Mounts

Post by ptmoman »

Hopefully a quick question. My stem is no where near horizontal (~30 degrees), is that going to preclude me from using a stem mount? Will it be a compromise?

Thanks in advance,

We have a "high angle" stem mount that is designed precisely for such stems. An image is attached.

While you don't want it going to extreme angles, the ibike can live with about +-10 degrees, as long as you do a proper tilt cal, and as long as you keep the air pressure sensor exposed to clean air. I think the only other problem would be on really wet days, when water would drip in to the pressure sensor.

About your mention of clean air-should the leading edge of the iBike be at or beyond the leading edge of the stem for proper airflow? Or is it OK to have it set back a bit so it is centered fore and aft on the stem?

I have mine set back a little, but you generally do want it out over the face plate to get the best air.
