Profile help

Post by still-chasing »

Did Cal ride and Coast down after switching to a new handlebar. After downloading the file, the CRR #s came out to .0088. I little high I think if I follow the manual guideline. The ride was done on pavement. Any comment? Pls. help. I would like to get it right before doing the FTP test.
Also, is it recommended to split the number of coast down between riding in the hoods and riding in the drops to get a better average?
How about windscaling? does it have to be above a certain value for it to be consider good?

THANKS!!!!

I looked at your cal ride file.

The total weight of you and your bike is listed as 163 pounds, which would make body weight about 139 pounds. Are both numbers correct?

I looked at your data and, unless there was an error in the CAL RIDE/COASTDOWN process, your data looks very consistent.

Is it possible that your brakes are rubbing, or that there is some other source of friction?

What is your height? That would help check the CdA value.

I'm 5'7".
I checked the bike and everything looks ok. No pads rubbing and the wheels spin good. If that's the resulting value, I guess it is what it is. Just puzzled with the high crr. All I did was change handlebar and switched to a single sensor from Garmin.

Here are the values before: 11/11/10 -weight 162 lbs.
windscale-.734, cda-.342, crr-.0075, aero-.251, fric-6.103

Calibration 7/16/10:
windscale-.555, cda-.406, crr-.0051, aero-.226, fric-4.452

Calibration 3/30/10;
windscale-.633, cda-.321, crr-.0045, aero-.203, fric-5.551

Which setting do you suggest I use for crr? Setting in Ibike, crr fixed or crr adjusted?

Sorry for asking too much. Thank you very much!

Is there be a "Profile for dummies" in the works?

I redid my calibration again. Did 2 calibrations back to back. Did 1 then download and did another.

Attached are the calibrations.

Are my numbers ok? Thanks.

Hello.

I am a long time user of Ibike but this one has me stumped. I can't get my profile correct.

5/10, 183lbs, road bike and normally ride on hoods. 43yrs old/Cat 4 type rider.

2010-formal FT test at a bike shop gave 220 as a threshold.

early 2011-lived in Mexico City, purchased a new bike a didn't do a calibration ride. I rode an FT test with the new bike/ibike and was at 238 FTP so I assumed all was good. Here is a file of that period:
iBike_08_28_2011_1418_24_Miles Leones.csv
Mexico City

Oct 2011-Moved back to the U.S./Virginia Beach and my watts seemed to be high. I didn't know what happened. Here is a profile of that period:
iBike_10_22_2011_0633_46_Miles.csv
Virginia Beach
(409.47 KiB) Downloaded 308 times
Nov 2011-Back in Tampa and tried to get a good profile. I did fast start, tilt, cal ride and 10 coast downs. Followed by a FT test with the Ibike to see how close I was and the watts were still high. The unit said that my FTP was 282 which is too high for me (atleast I think). Here is the FT test:
iBike_11_25_2011_1613_7_Miles 20min FTP.csv
FTP test on Ibike
(288.95 KiB) Downloaded 316 times
Will someone please take a look and tell me what I am doing wrong or how I can change the profile to get some accurate numbers. I am now confused on my actual FTP. I am assuming it is around 220-240 since I haven't done much FT training lately. What can I change to get those numbers?

Thank you....Tony

I looked at the files. Mexico City indeed shows that you did not do an FTP test. Looking at the numbers from your profile, not the Aero, wind scaling, and Friction #'s especially in the 3 different profiles. Virginia beach is especially high with wind scaling and friction it appears.

I attached the screenshots of your profile numbers. It looks like VA Beach has some really high numbers, but your wind scaling is alms double the other rides, and the friction seems high to me as well. Also, look at the aero numbers. .242, .273, and then .824.
I think maybe going through the calibration process again thoroughly, will help you get your numbers dialed in a bit. Our new software will also allow you to "CHECK CALIBRATION" after your out and back ride. This can be found in the "Tools" tab in the iBike software. Hopefully I helped a bit. Sometimes the brain is processing faster than the fingers can type, and I might have missed something ;)
