all of my coast-downs are failing

Hi...

I'm a new user, actually haven't been able to get my first ride in yet, since all of my coast-downs are failing.

Here's a typical coast-down scenario...

From the COASt screen, I start pedaling slowly, hit the center button, and it says FAST, so I start to accelerate, but after about 3 pedal strokes, it tells me I've reached over 25mph, and it tells me to coast, which I do. On the coast-down, the speed drops, then increases to 50,60 or 70mph, then drops back down to the teens, then again to 50+. Soon after, I get "coast failed", and I start over, but I always get the same result.

I am sure I have the right wheel size, 2100, and both the SPEED and CADENCE sensors are paired, my weight is accurate; the wind offset is 0, and the tilt is calibrated properly.

As I start pedaling, the watts reading is over 600, and I am not that strong. I also have 4 brand new batteries that I installed today - and they're fresh - just ordered from iBike.

Any suggestions? This is the 3rd consecutive weekend of trying to get successful coast-downs, and it's really frustrating. :?

Thank you

Dave

Please do the following:

1) Go to the Fast Start screens and complete them again (this counteracts the effects of any bad coast downs)

2) Do a short ride, say three miles. Don't worry about coast downs

3) Please download your ride and email it to me at jhamann@velocomp.com

Something very odd is going on with your speed; that is the cause of your bad coast downs. Once I have a ride file from you it will be easy to figure out what is going on.

I had a speed problem just a couple of weeks ago.
I had changed wheels, when I replaced the sensor magnet I think it was too close to the sensor and was picking up a double signal (perhaps)
My speed was all over the place but I could not figure it out until I got home and was able to hear the double "tic" sound of the magnet passing over the sensor.
I moved the sensor further away and the issue resolved.
Hope your issue is that simple

He sent me his ride file and there is, indeed, craziness in his speed data.

I've provided the same advice about speed sensor placement. We'll see if that fixes things!
