Friction VS Aero

Post by 82zman »

Ok more on the CDs…….. I noticed that there is a obvious give/take relationship between the Friction and Aero numbers. I have had Cds with high friction/Low Aero and the other way around. In the end does it make a difference in the total power readings other than where the watts are going? If my cda or crr numbers were out of the normal range but the power was accurate then I would be ok with that. Is this even a possibility?

No. Error won't be big when climbing at low speed, but it will be big at high speed on the flats, especially in windy conditions.

You won't be far off in most riding conditions but at higher speeds you'd really like the aero drag to be correct. The power to overcome aero drag increases with V^3 and the power to overcome Crr is proportional to V.
