I've been reading various reviews on the Newton - here in the forum and elsewhere on the internet. One of the rather detailed reviews seems to be this one: http://www.jarredscycling.com/2014/06/i ... w.html?m=1
Now do those of you who already have the product agree on the main conclusions?
Do you recognize the pros and cons?
Re: Do you recognize the pros and cons?
Make sure you read his review update too, regarding FW 5.

Re: Do you recognize the pros and cons?
Thanks John - hadn't seen that one! Looks like most of the software issues have been adressed. Great job! Any thoughts on Jarred's recommendations regarding dropping the bike computer part and just focussing on the powermeter functionality whilst lowering the prices to remain price competitive with the newcomers on the scene and the general trend towards lower prices? To me that would work perfect as I am already using my Garmin 910xt as HRM and bike computer. Sending power data to that unit would make the need for a second display unit (the Newton) obsolete - I think.
Re: Do you recognize the pros and cons?
I would think if Velocomp were considering such an option, it would (should) be done in parallel with a 'bells & whistles' model.
IE One that has GPS chipset, backlight and a display/UI similar to Garmin.
So have the bare bones, "black box", power only unit at the low end of pricing; intended for those with a Garmin or similar already and probably mount under bars.
Then have the 'premium' Newton which should be good enough to replace a Garmin plus provide power.
