AeroPod, PowerPod and Newton

Hi All

Just curious if anybody has attempted installing the USB drivers under Windows 7 and then installed the latest iBike software? I will be having a crack on the weekend and will report back but would be good to know if there are any hints or tips. Run in compatibility mode, Windows XP mode etc

If you need drivers for Windows 7 we have them. They are different from the Windows XP drivers (of course!) Please email me at jhamann@velocomp.com

ok, Installed the Windows 7 Drivers John emailed me, latest version of iBike software and everything is working perfectly. One thing I'm not 100% sure on, where are the Profiles kept on disk so I can re-import them? Or should I have exported all my old profiles first?

have answered my own question, but for anybody else interested this is what you should do

- profile files (.ibp) are not created unless you first export them. Good practice so you have a backup
- profiles are actually stored in the iBike settings files, located here under XP - C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Velocomp\iBike 2
- 3rd option for restoring profiles is to extract them from a ride, if you have multiple bikes just load a file from each bike to extract the appropriate profile

John, after a couple of days of use I have noticed the download speed with the new driver is very slow, I'm sure it's something to do with the implementation of the Virtual Com port. Have tried increasing the port speed to the maximum in the driver settings but no difference. Any tips?

I've done some more digging on the Silicon Labs Driver implementation, seems any Operating System port speed settings are over ridden by the speed set by the application. Is there a setting somewhere in the iBike software where I can increase the Port speed?

We have contacted SiLabs about this report and they have done testing. Here is their report:

We ran a throughput test here and the Win7 machine had the same throughput as on XP. We transferred a LARGE file via the VCP at 115,200 baud and it took 20 minutes on each machine.

iBike 3 also transfers data at 115,200 baud.

It would seem your particular problem is being caused by something else...

ok, tried another windows 7 machine tonight, note this is the full release RTM Version of Windows 7, not a Beta or RC. Exactly the same, very slow download from the iBike using the Windows 7 Silabs driver.

Now the good news, I uninstalled the Windows 7 driver and installed the standard XP\Vista driver available on the ibikesports download page. I ran the install program after setting it to Vista SP 2 compatibility mode as follows:

The downloads are now back to full speed. As a comparision, a 38 minute ride using the Windows 7 driver took 70 seconds, using the old driver was 17 seconds.
