Unit freezes, battery must be taken out...every day

I ride twice a day and my unit freezes every time I start my second ride. I've tried several things (below) but it always happens and the only solution seems to be to take the battery out. After I put the battery back it always works like normal...until the next day.
What's going on? Anybody have a similar problem? More importantly, can it be fixed.
The details:
I do one ride in the morning and one ride in the afternoon (commute).
Every afternoon I push the center button to wake the iAero up. It wakes up and does the battery check (battery is good) and then it gets stuck on the next screen.
If I have not moved the wheel or crank it will be stuck on the wls fail screen.
If I have already woken up the sensors it will be stuck on the spd found or cad found.
In either case if I push the center button again it does the battery check again but comes back to the same screen.
In either case if I push and hold the up arrow it enters the menus but the buttons don't work as normal (all the buttons cycle I think).
If I take the battery out for a second (or do the reversed battery hard reset) the unit goes back to regular operation (until the next day).
I've tried both doing a trip reset just before I leave the unit alone after my morning ride and just leaving it alone (no trip reset). Both have the same result.
In the evening I take the unit off my bike and it works normally in the morning so (presumably) it's only a problem if you leave the unit on the bike.
The unit didn't do this from the start. In the first month or so it happened one or twice. Now it's literally every day.
What's going on? Any ideas beyond the hard reset and the new battery?
