Would a new case require new calibration?

Post by jim_s »

I sent my Gen III unit back to have a problem w/ the button looked at, and a new case (and display) were put on - nothing was found w/ the button, ironically... :-) (Incidentally, this was yet another example of Velocomp's high level of customer service - John convinced me to send it to them for a look, and even w/ the new case and screen (not sure why the screen was replaced), not a word was said about any charges for any of it.)

It seems that since I got it back, however, I have this mysterious tailwind that follows me everywhere now. I've ridden out & backs and loops, on both windy days and calm days, and on each of them, there is a consistent tailwind. Even in places where I *know* I was riding into a headwind, I get no headwind showing up on the post-ride graph. I'm generally sure to do a wind offset before I ride, fwiw. I'm finding that on flats, my power numbers, both pre- and post-analysis, are lower than I would expect (or at least hope :-), and on hills, the ride-time numbers are significantly lower than the post-analysis numbers, and I think the post-analysis numbers might be a tad high. (Hill repeat averages yesterday were showing in the 240's at ride-time, but were in the 260's post-analysis.)

Could the new case be a potential source of this tail wind reading? Would doing a new calibration possibly resolve whatever issue I may be having?

Appreciate anyone's advice.

I know that when I had mine repaired for a cracked case that I did have to do new cali. and coastdowns because my old profiles weren't giving me the same consistent numbers as before. If I were you I would redo it and get a new profile to make sure that you have the correct numbers becuase I know mine changed with the new case.
