Wireless Failure after battery change

Post by longinthetooth »

This seems to be a common problem? But the solutions seem random and vague!

A week ago I got a Bad battery test message, so changed the iBike battery. Since then I get randon Wireless failures. I say random as I can't find a pattern. Sometimes the auto scan at the start finds Cad, Hr and spd; sometimes it fails while out. In the latter case, I have never been able to find the sensors with a hard scan, either on the road or when back home. But who knows what will happen tomorrow?

I assume the battery test is testing the iBike?
I also assume it isn't testing the Mount?? How does one test the Mount battery? How long ought the Mount battery last?

Feel that as this is a known problem area that there ought to be a standard approach to Troubleshooting its causes?

An inexpensive Radio Shack voltmeter would come into play for battery testing. Although they have to be removed from the sensors, a quick check will tell you what the unloaded voltage is. I also believe that the load on the sensors is quite small, so the readings are not going to bee too inflated.

Velocomp would have to provide some suggestions for what too low is, though.
