UPDATED 8/19/20: VERSION 1.1.6 OF "AEROPOD CDA" APP ALLOWS SELECTION OF TWO FIELD DISPLAY (SLOPE AND WIND).


Our special thanks to Oleksiy, an AeroPod user who brought these improvements to life!

App features:

1) English/metric display of wind speed
2) recording of CdA/Time Advantage/Wind Speed/Slope data in .FIT file
3) Compatibility with AeroPod products and PowerPod V3 products
4) Selection between 4 fields of display (AeroPod: CdA/Time Advantage/Slope/Wind) and 2 fields of display (PowerPod: Slope/Wind)

Garmin site is down. It's not our fault...

Web is reporting RANSOMWARE as the culprit - still down today - Friday.

Looks like Garmin somewhat fixed their problem...but AeroPod CdA app is still not available.

nice app!! very cool data!
it will be 10/10 with a field selectable option . In the PP is " annoying" the 2 fields with a constant and also they are in different rows... pretty ineficient screen visualization.

Yes, an option to reduce to 2 fields for the PowerPod would be awesome.

The new AeroPod CdA app was made by Oleksiy, one of our customers.

Using our original app as a foundation, Oleksiy made the new AeroPod CdA app on his own time, adding the critical feature requested: metric display of wind speed. He also added .FIT recording of CdA/slope/wind data.

Finally, Oleksiy used his own account to get the app into the Garmin ConnectIQ store. This makes download and installation much easier.

We are grateful to Oleksiy for his improvements and his help. Given all that Oleksiy has already done, we don't think it's appropriate to ask him to do even more.

Someday Garmin will issue its CdA profile, and some time after that Garmin and others might add more features.

Looks like an often requested feature by PowerPod users. I'll see what can be done here.

This is great! A big thank you to you, Oleksiy! Also, having the data recorded in the .fit file opens a lot of possibilities.

I use the Aeropod, but I would also be very happy with a version with just two fields; CdA and wind speed. It would give a lot more options for composing screens.

Great improvement that notes that it was possible without waiting for Garmin, standard and blablah.

Just a thing, it consumes a lot of battery (half the battery Life on my 520) may be it Could be an enhacement.

Very good the option to display only Grade and Wind values for PowerPod (since the other 2 fields are meaningful only for AeroPod), but there is an issue with font size that should be re-sized accordingly.
As already reported in another thread (Neat trick with AeroPod CdA app for PowerPod/AeroPod), the font size for grade and wind values seems to be the half as it should be.
In Garmin Edge 1030 (as well as in Edge 1000), the proper single-field font size seems to be obtained only when you use 2/5 of the Garmin display height (i.e. area for 4 Data Fields), while when you use 1/5 of the Garmin display height (i.e. area for 2 Data Fields) the resulting font size is too small…In other words currently you have to allocate display for 4 fields despite you are displaying only 2 fields, as reported in the attached picture.
Please fix this display issue as soon as possible, so to have both proper size/visibility and space for additional fields to display.

what do you think about the font size issue ?
This fix seems to be requested by more than one PowerPod user ... expecially 50+ senior cyclists with no more perfect vision

Oleksiy did this work without charge to anyone, and I don't think it's appropriate to ask him to do more without financial support from the people using this app.

You can make a PayPal payment to him through the AeroPod CdA link.

Of course I can agree with you about supporting with PayPal payment...and I'll do it.

On the other hand, the request is not for any additional feature but for better value readability (by proper font size) and you (as Velocomp) should be happy if the CdA app is improved, with satisfaction of Powerpod users in this forum.

One of the merits of beta testing to a reasonably broad audience is to minimize not only likely bugs, but to ensure that functionality meets expectations This includes interface requirements - Human User Interface is part of that - not just does this button perform.

I am happy that the Garmin data field with PP or AP was provided by a third party, but it also seems that one facet of the Human Interface falls short for PP users and the devil is in the details.

My thanks, also, to Oleksiy for his contribution in providing this modification as it currently exists.

Sure, I'll try to make the font to scale. Shouldn't take much work i think, but devil is in details!

Trying to install the new fields. I now see only Slope and Wind on Edge 830. However the number is always blank. what else can I try? I am getting power reading, but not Slope and Wind.....

Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the ConnectIQ app. Then make sure your unit is paired to the Garmin.

Many thanks for your great app. I have been using it with 2 fields using the AP as power meter, I ride about 300 miles a week

Problem: during a ride sometimes may be a very short interruption of the data (like radar disconnect and almost immediately reconnected) and everything continuous running well except the CdA app that freezes.

How to solve it:
Turn off and on the garmin OR just replace the CdA field in the data screen with any other one, then put back the CdA app and runs well again.
Here a way also to reproduce the problem"
1. wake up the sensors
2. Turn on the AP
3. Turn on the Garmin
4. Go the Data Sceen where the 2 field CdA is
5. Lift bike and rotate wheel and the numbers change.
6. Go for coffee and allow the garmin to fall sleep
7 Come back, rotate the wheel , speed moves, power shows but the CdA app 2 fields is frozen.

It seems the frozen screen in your app is mainly related to the varia radar, when the radar get disconnected (maybe one or twice in a 50 miles ride) then the field where the CdA app is on get frozen, the rest is OK. Disconnection of the radar is reported and known and it is a problem.
The partial solution I have is I selected another field and the press the CdA field, so both locations switch and the CdA app field works again.
The other fields are not affected, but I do not have any other IQ app running and this may be a problem with IQ apps only. I will post if I find anything.
