Re: Garmin Edge Power vs. ISAAC Power
The biggest impact I see on my own calibration of a P3 is tire pressure. I have set the pressure at 60-psi and ride for a few days - over essentially the same route. Reviewing the day's ride and analyzing the calibration may gradually show the factors shifting I then pump the tires back up to the or...

Garmin IQ apps - data fields for PP ?
The last time I checked on any available data screen app for the Garmin bike computers, on the 2X2 Aeropod data screen was available. You were waiting on a definitive set of standards from Garmin regarding the output from the Velocomp power meters and how those fit into the Garmin data stream. So up...

Re: CdA changes between headwind and tailwind - to be continued
This appears to be model building with various forms of data. What are the number of variables in this model - and - do you know that these variables are independent? Going through the "experiments" have you built a set of orthogonally designed experiments (DOE) that provide adequate varia...

Re: Erratic power readings, but AVG okish
As personal experience - when I first got my PP3 I was checking the calibration at the end of almost every ride. Every so often I would save the suggested changes - even when Isaac was only estimating small changes - the result for the most part was a wandering wind scale and friction values or slop...

Re: Garmin Edge 520 Plus nor pairing (maybe)
Do you have the latest software update for your 520 plus? https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=15149 There are a couple beta versions at the location above - I think some of the more recent updates - even in beta - have a chance of capturing sensors better or more reliably. Tom

Re: Inconsistent distance measurement between PP and Garmin
The Garmin, with its built in GPS can estimate your tire size (circumference) - What are you using for the tire size? If you allow the Garmin to do the measuring and then add that to your PP/ISAAC profile, the two should agree pretty well. Set up the Garmin, go for a ride at least until the Garmin w...

In case you do not have the link to the Update Page for the Edge 530 Firmware: https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=14953 They are presently listing a beta version of 5.28. It looks like 5.24 was the most recent previous version. What Garmin does do conveniently is to add the prev...

Just curious - I see you also have Garmin Sensors - There are LEDs that will flash right after they wake up for a short time. If you do not see the flashing, the issue could be batteries... I have the Garmin sensors (version 2) and the speed sensor is recommended to be mounted on the front wheel, no...

Re: PowerPod won't commence cal ride
Try a different USB cable. There are a number of them out there that only provide power for charging, so not all the connections are active. - FYI a common way to steal data in public places (from laptops, phone and pad devices) is to have the charging kiosks have a device inserted that can grab the...

Re: New cal ride
Velocomp/John are likely to want much of the math to remain their intellectual property. Cal rides in low wind allow the aero portion to use the bike speed as much as anything to estimate the wind factor. With a high wind, the bike speed plays less of a contribution and thus I suspect harder to nail...

Re: New cal ride
I would think that as the angle of attack of the orifice on the PP is not exactly the same for each bike (unless there is a lot of serendipity) that these factors would vary (wind scale and aero). The same ratio is also not really surprising if it is the same PP as the sensor inside the PP detecting...

I never received a thumb screw with my PP, but I did get the allen wrench I do tighten it down - not likely to wobble at all. just tilt it forward as I secure it and it ends up pretty much at the same angle. I also have a long extender USB able so that I can leave it on the bike while charging and r...

This feature is part of Isaac. So if you did not trash...

To add to that - there are USB charge only cables available - the data pins are disabled. This is because some unscrupulous vendors have designed chargers that also can steal data. SO many use the charge only cables - especially when at airports or elsewhere when the user does not have their own com...

I have no way of knowing if the FW for the Edge 830 is in the same state of confusion - the latest release for it is listed as 5.0 - albeit that this model is newer than the original release of the 1030. I think the problem i sthat the PP V3 does not work with the dual sensor Garmin setup. Take a look at the literature for the PP. I am wondering how many think and rely on the power values that come from any power meter, not just the PowerPod-AeroPod family as a means to summarily say something along the line - I worked hard and I know I worked harder on this last ride - or took it easy. I would think the most reasonable calibration reduces the unknown factors as much as possible - meaning that for a MTB riding on the surface where you are going to use the bike seems most appropriate. You might be able to take the MTB profile and improve that after a few controlled rides on the righ...

How about just the wind and slope? That's for us PP users - I'd like to get the information working - even if I have to write a routine myself. One that just displays these two data fields separately _-- LIKE all Garmin data fields.

I just got a replacement 830 - the previous one had issues with the compass (possibly more than that.)
