Re: Wrong Distance? This is WAYYY off.
Indeed my Garmin 705 manual says it only uses the sensor if there is no GPS signal. I assume the 500 is the same. It's quite possible to get a good cadence reading but no speed if the GSC-10 is not located properly. I occasionally bump mine causing it to lose speed reading but cadence remains fine.I...

Re: Watt numbers completely wrong!
I'm not very consistent about resetting at the end of the ride. I always reset the Garmin because I download the data right away but since I don't download from the iSport I sometimes forget.
I'll start to reset after each ride and see what happens.
Thanks for the advice !

Re: Watt numbers completely wrong!
I think I'm getting to the bottom of this. Did the tilt cal, wind cal and cal ride but I was still having problems at he start of some rides. One thing that seems to work is as follows: As soon as I switch on the iSport I do a trip reset. I then set the altitude to the right value. If I do that it g...

Re: Watt numbers completely wrong!
I've also got the iSport on 4.25 and mounted on the rechargaeble mount so its pretty solid. I have also been having problems with wattage in the first 5 minutes although it seems to be inconsistent. So a couple of days ago I did a tilt cal before my ride and all was well. The following day I put on ...

Lay off the baked beans before the ride.

Re: Normal Power NP
Normalized power takes into account the physiological effects of training. This varies with the fourth power of power output. So to get normalized power you take the 30 second moving average power, raise it to the fourth power, add them up for the whole ride then take the fourth root. Unless you hav...

If I want to use the new mount on two bikes I take it I need to buy an additional steer tube mount when I get the wireless rechargeable mount?

Just order the USB connector as this allows you to download the firmware. I have an iSport now running 4.24 and very happy.

Re: training for climbs
You need to make sure that your Total Weight (bike plus rider plus gear) is correct in Setup so the iBike can calculate your power accurately at any time. This should include your full water bottles. As long as this is right and everything is properly calibrated the iBike will calculate your power t...

Re: training for climbs
For the FTP test I prefer a steady uphill climb. My climb of choice is a steady 4% over about 7km which takes me just over 20 minutes. With a steady climb its easier to maintain constant power output. I treat like a time trial and aim to collapse right at the end where, fortunately, the climb ends a...

Re: Getting zero power read when you least want it.
Like I said, despite what you are seeing on the display, the Garmin is recording zero cadence and it is reading that straight from the cadence sensor and NOT from the iBike. It is only getting the power readings from the iBike. Your log shows clearly, if you go through one step at a time, that caden...

Re: Getting zero power read when you least want it.
Since the cadence is still displayed when riding, but not shown on the downloaded file I think this is due to the fact the Ibike gives an zero power read and so the Edge must conclude from that there is no more cadence. I've got a similar setup except I'm using a Garmin Edge 705 to record data. The...

Re: Getting zero power read when you least want it.
Check that your speed sensor is securely in place. I've found that if mine (a Garmin wireless sensor) is not positioned right it does not detect speed but my Garmin 705 (and I expect the 500 also) then automatically switches to using GPS to determine speed. But the iBike only reads the speed sensor ...

Re: Garmin GSC-10 v. iBike Sensors
I had heard that the 705 doesn't record the power readings. Has that changed? I'm thinking it's cheaper to buy a used 705 than it is upgrading my iSport. If I got a 705 (and it does record power) I could just pay for the GT upgrade and use the 705 to download workout information. I've got an iSport...

Re: menu map
I made my own map by scrolling back and forth between the menu options. I did this because there are a couple of "easter eggs" in the menu which I always have trouble finding. To get to the Abs Wind option you need to first get to Fit Test in the User menu then use the down/right arrow to ...

Also, I read somewhere that if you sustain a constant power output over time your heart rate will continue to rise. And vice versa if you sustain a constant heart rate over time your power output will drop. YMMV

iSport GT query
I've currently got the iSport GT coupled with a Garmin 705 to help with fitness training and for pacing myself on Audax rides. I've just got another bike so I'm ordering another wireless mount. Seeing as I have to pay for international shipping I was wondering if its worth adding, say, a USB adapter...
