Re: Where to Mount Unit on TT Bike with New Gizmo

Boyd, two questions about your setup: 1) Is anything holding the steer tube to the stem besides zip ties? If not, it sure seems like it would rotate around the stem or twist a bit in the zip ties and throw off your riding tilt. I must be missing something. 2) Are you finding that the air is clean en...

Re: Stem Mount Installation Difficulties

Well, I couldn't leave it alone. I tried once more to extract the screw and I wound up extracting the receiver sleeve. Oh well! With nothing left to lose I drilled some holes for zip ties. If I actually go through with the epoxy / zip tie experiment I'll post a photo of the results for all to enjoy....

Re: Stem Mount Installation Difficulties

No luck on the screw extraction. A #1 extraction bit was the smallest I could find and it was too large for the job. It looks like I'm going to have to purchase a new mount. If anyone has any other ideas please pass them on.

Re: Stem Mount Installation Difficulties

Thanks for all the advice. I'll probably try to find a tiny e-z-out to extract the broken screw since the remaining part of the screw is counter-sunk and it doesn't look like there's anything to grab hold of. If that's successful, I'll order another bottom clamp and try again using shoe-goo as a fil...

Re: Stem Mount Installation Difficulties

Before you drill any holes in your wireless mount I would just order the bottom clamp from the iBike store. . .it's only a couple bucks (better than ruining your wireless mount). Thanks Boyd. Ordering a new bottom clamp would be my first choice if I didn't already have a screw broken off in one of ...

Re: Stem Mount Installation Difficulties

Norm, in one of those earlier posts on this subject, someone recommended using "Shoe-Goo." I've tried it and found that it's viscous enough to minimize the chance of drips, and it can be removed without too much trouble if need be. It takes 24-hours to set, and 72-hours to obtain "ma...

Stem Mount Installation Difficulties

I've been trying various options for installing a wireless mount on a stem that's round but too large for the mount to fit properly. It's been a comedy of errors. First, the screws were just barely long enough to get threaded into the unit. After struggling with it for quite a while I finally manage...

Will the wind scaling have to be reset when using the alternate wind port or is it a "plug it in and ride" kind of modification?

Re: Zero Length File error

Negative on the battery problem. Juice was good both pre and post ride. The battery cover is tight. I acquired the unit last November, so it doesn't make sense to me that the date reset to 3/9. Anyways, it appears to be working properly now.

Re: Zero Length File error

Thanks Fernando. I was able to recover most of the data. Here's what I did: 1) Performed a hard reset by flipping the iAero battery. 2) Connected the iAero to my MacBook 3) Reset the time/date using the iBike 3 software 4) Downloaded the rides using the "Download and save all rides" button...

Zero Length File error

My iBike problems are becoming more and more rare. But as usual, Murphy's law applies and when they do occur it's when I've just had a great ride and I'm anxious to check out the results. My iAero (3.09 firmware) was working fine on the main efforts of tonight's ride. But on the way home, when I pre...

Procedure for finding an optimal position

OK, I now have the gear (iAero + PT) and I'm ready to start fine tuning my TT position. Now I need a process. What's the best procedure for finding an optimal TT position? Should I try to adjust it on the road or should I run a series of trials and then do the analysis at the house? Which variables ...

Re: PT Pro+ Power Display Fluctuations

The one thing we have to try and do is make the iBike screens easy to use for everybody. If we tried to make every request happen, we'd end up with a computer about the size of a mini laptop on our handlebars. Here's a data point based on an informal sample. A lot of people I ride with only care ab...

I thought about including cadence for the Usr intervals, but then it go to the same point that you just brought up, too much information circling through. . . it'd be like trying to watch CNN with a stock ticker at the bottom. Re: PT Pro+ Power Display Fluctuations

One of the things we did with the iBike is provide smoothing filters that calm down the watts jumpiness. The PT doesn't have those filters and so their readings are, in fact, more varied. Is there any chance we could have the iBike smooth the Pin display while it continues to record the raw Pin dat...

Re: PT Pro+ Power Display Fluctuations

You can display the power on your Powertap by using a 2 or 5 second interval averaging. The fluctuations on your power tap can be reduced by holding a steady rpm, rather than watching your wattage. My cadence and effort are steady: 110 rpm @ 200 watts, not even a tempo effort; just a steady pace on...

PT Pro+ Power Display Fluctuations

Hey guys. I've been riding with a PT Pro+ wheel for about a month now and love the real-time CdA data. However, power readings from the PT fluctuate quite a lot--much more than when using the iBike alone--and that makes holding a watt target difficult for me. I regularly see 50+ watt fluctuations on...

Re: Weird Heart Rate Data (a.k.a Is There A Doctor In The House?

OK, the data is in and the answer for me was... [drumroll please...] a bad heart strap! I recently acquired a Cycleops heart strap, paired it with my gen iii iAero, and, presto, no more heart rate dips! So it appears that my iBike strap has some sort of malfunction that causes the weird data I've be...

Re: Watts are not shown in downloaded rides

This seemed to fix my issue as well. In addition to correcting the weight in the extracted profile, I also had to set the riding tilt back to what it was in the original profile, which meant that I had to use the weight from the original profile (not the ride) to get the correct CRR. I'm assuming th...

Re: iBike 3 for Mac download strangeness

Sorry John, I must be a little dense tonight since I can't see how my issue is addressed in the post you suggested.

Just to clarify, I'm not in trainer mode and power on the iAero looks fine. My issue seems to be isolated to the iBike 3 for Mac download and the power graph in iBike 3.

iBike 3 for Mac download strangeness

On several recent rides I've downloaded the ride file (with the Save? box checked) from my gen 3 iAero and find that there is no power data. All other data is present and looks reasonable. When I quite iBike 3, discard changes, and restart iBike 3, the ride file then displays the power data, but Rol...

You're not the only one. Assuming the following link is also an indoor ride based on the HR consistency, the roller static electricity theory makes more and more sense. http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=5051&highlight= Have you solved it? Grounding the rollers? ...

I have 2 bikes, and 3 wheelsets (climbers, aero's, and PowerTap sets) and I'm wondering what shortcuts (if any) I can use in building the profiles. Re: Weird Heart Rate Data (a.k.a Is There A Doctor In The House?

Yeah, the rollers are definitely generating some static electricity. While I was on the rollers a couple of nights ago I reached over and touched my girlfriend and got a pretty good spark. I have wood floors and don't normally have static electricity.

Re: 4-mile ride on rollers?

Drat! So riding tilt does effect wind scaling; I was hoping didn't. That way you could do one 4 mile ride to capture wind scaling for your iBike & mount setup, jump on the rollers to find your riding tilt for 3 or 4 positions, then pair them up to build the profile. It seems like this time of ye...
