Newton not working well with latest firmware
I just updated firmware on the newton this weekend (been extremely flawless prior). It seemed to ride OK yesterday, but today was a bit of a disaster. First, I noticed that it didn't pick up any of my sensors, so I stopped and went through the pairing process. It found my speed/cadence/HR just fine,...

Hmmm, I'll make note of that. Never had it before, but I suppose it is possible.

iBike reset during ride
My iBike reset itself during my ride yesterday. Not sure what caused it, must have been some combination of buttons I was pressing during the ride, but it was alarming. A friend of mine had this just happen this last week during the Battenkill race. Anyone else see this or know what caused it? FWIW ...

Ride file split?
For some reason my iBike split the ride into two files today:
One marked with '0' miles, and the other with 5. And the dates didn't match (I know these are for the same ride since I erased all the ride data before)
What happened?

I have to say, being able to do the analyze.check calibration of a ride is a real benefit!

Re: updated profile, getting wild fluctuations
Just checked, it was 0.
What does the number refer to exactly? Is it averaging over some number of seconds?
I'll set to 5 and see how it looks tomorrow.

Re: updated profile, getting wild fluctuations
Yea, here is the after file.
I downloaded the before file (which is what I used for the profile analysis) at work and unfortunately my laptop went to sleep so I can't get it. I'll see about popping in there over the weekend.

updated profile, getting wild fluctuations
So, I finally got around to going a good ride that I could use to analyze my profile. I figured this was a good idea since I did my profile calibration pretty early on in the product life cycle. Anyway, there were changes that seemed consistent with the results I was used to getting on the unit. So ...

Re: Introducing iBike Newton PowerStroke
VEry cool, already ordered my upgrade. But I am still curious what it is actually doing. It looks like it is measuring "wobbling" along two different axis and somehow translating that to loss of power. Without getting into any secret sauce here, just to help me have more confidence on what...

Re: Tilt Cal And Profile (And Get from iBike)
Is there a good reason why a new tilt calibration shouldn't update the profile? It seems like that would match users expectations a little better; not sure anyone (except you insiders) would have known this.

Re: Tilt Cal And Profile (And Get from iBike)
... And technically the only benefit to doing this will be to get more accurate results during the first 5 minutes (or so) of riding which the unit does various calibration adjustments?

Re: Tilt Cal And Profile (And Get from iBike)
Still not clear. When he makes the handlebar adjustment, and does a new tilt cal it doesn't get saved with the profile right? So, if he wanted to make that adjustment permanent what would the procedure be (aside from doing a new cal ride)?
I know the new unit will correct for this during the ride.

Re: Tilt Cal And Profile (And Get from iBike)
It sounds more like tilt cal is similar to wind cal, there are offsets that are kept in the profile, but the settings are in the ibike and are just settings.
If I remember correctly, Tilt cal was one of those things that eventually the Gen III learned how to adjust during the ride.

Re: Tilt Cal And Profile (And Get from iBike)
So I did a quick check to see if I could understand what is going on. What I did was save the profile from one of the rides, and the applied it to the other ride. That did in fact change the results. I think what this tells me is that the profile is in fact changed with the new tilt calibration. But...

Re: Tilt Cal And Profile (And Get from iBike)
I think Jon is simply looking for some way for him to confirm that the new tilt calibration actually resulted in a modified profile since he isn't seeing any direct evidence of that.

Re: At long last, the iBike Newton!
Thanks John, O am one of those riders who wears polarized sunglasses.
My unit also has a fairly minor flaw in the LCD panel. The small number on the top panel doesn't display properly.
Will they be replacing just the glass, or the entire LCD panel?

Any way to have it just start freeing up old data? Like a FIFO stack?
Then you could have the software determine if a ride file is complete or not and just not show is in the UI.
.. or something like that...

+1 on ability to delete ride files. Can't tell you how many times I have been caught forgetting to erase the data on the unit. More memory does help, but it's my own brain that needs it in order to remember!

Re: Feature Request
You could consider holding a contest. Let folks nominate features (for the unit or software), and then pick the ones that are implementable, and let us vote.
Winner gets a free extra mount (or something).

Feature Request
Having spent some quality time with the Newton, I have a couple of suggestions for simple features: 1) Add Battery info to totals (since memory is there, battery remaining should be there too) 2) Would be nice to have an easy way to turn off the unit. Not sure exactly what that could be, but it is a...
