Re: Ibike dash

The problem with using any other product is that there are multiple hardware devices that will run the software. Android is on tons of phones, so you would need mounts/connectors for each. You can't (legally) run the iPhone OS on any other phone besides an iPhone so there is only one mount needed. B...

Re: RWS Modification Question

I like that! I think if you somehow fastened it to the front of your stem you would also have a good connection to the iBike wind port. I also don't think you need the tube extending out as far by your wheel. As long as you do your cal ride with that RWS in place, you will get good data. Looking at ...

Re: iAero calibration ride / coast downs / profile

The only difference between smooth and rough roads should be in your crr (rolling resistance). Your cda and aero and wind scaling should all stay the same. Rather than going through the whole cal ride and coastdown process again, this is where you can manually edit a profile. All you have to do is i...

Re: DFPM, iaero filter, and sprints

The SRM filter that we put in place was to fix the false spikes of about 2800 watts. I have heard that with newer firmware in the SRM this hasn't been an issue anymore, but they also haven't sent me a crank to play with yet. Keep in mind that we did this to fix one of their problems and we can't dev...

correct, if your elevation is off on the iBike then the only thing it will effect is your altitude numbers (nothing with power). Your elevation profile will still be correct as will the feet of climbing, it's just when you look at the high point of your ride that number can be off. If you are doing ...

Re: iBike Died After Riding in Rain

You can try putting a little bead of sealant around the outer edge of the screen, something to water proof that edge where water can seep in. I used some super glue on mine and that has worked pretty well, just be careful that you don't get it on the center of the screen or attach your finger in a s...

Re: Questionable readings

For the most part the values you had looked good, but like rruff suggested it looks like your crr was a bit high and cda a bit low. I have created a profile for you based on that and it's posted here. Save this profile to your computer then open the iBike software. Go to profiles->edit profile->impo...

Re: Analyze Profile

It looks like the wind may have played a bit of havoc on each particular coastdown. . . but what we are finding is that the fast start (where you enter your height, weight, and riding position) is working even better than we had planned for (comparing it to lots of DFPM files). I would recommend usi...

Re: Variable Aero & Gradient %: ??Mounting Position??

I think the variability of the coastdowns can be directly related to the way that you have your iBike positioned. During a coastdown there are dozens and dozens of measurements happening every second. Any vibration in the unit is going to cause highly variable results. You may think that the extende...

Re: Analysis of route and other things

With the new route analysis feature it analyzes the elevation profile and makes assumptions based on that. You had an elevation profile close enough on parts to trick it into thinking you had an out and back ride. If you hit the tab to analyze the route you can uncheck that the wind changed and that...

Re: Calorie Expenditure

The calorie counter on the iBike is going to be much better than the Garmin. Garmins are notorious for over estimating calories. The iBike calculates it based on the wattage you are actually doing. With WKO I just drag and drop my iBike csv files to my WKO calendar and it imports them. I have to dis...

In the software you can switch the profile after the ride. I know it won't make it so you had accurate watts on the screen during your ride, but at least for logging and training diary purposes, you will have accurate information.

I can't remember the exact trigger for it, but if the first few minutes of your ride don't have cadence data, that will cause it not to show up in the ride.

I think there has been some sort of fix for this. I know I haven't seen this thing happen in quite a while with my rides.

With the new firmware if you forget your cadence sensor the iBike will search for it. I have been playing around with a Garmin 700 and Garmin 500 recently. Our scan and pairing really works, and...

Re: Racing in a tri w/ an Ibike

One thing I would encourage you to do is to put a towel or shirt or something over your iBike if it's sitting in direct sunlight. This can make it so the internal sensors stay at the actual outside temperatures and aren't affected by the sunlight (making it appear that it's 110 degrees outside. This...

Re: Watts Not Displaying at beginning of ride

This is the tilt correction kicking in. It takes five minutes worth of data and then applies the correction to your tilt.

If you simply do a tilt calibration before your next ride you will have accurate watts from the start. I usually do about one tilt calibration every other week or so.

Yes, you can remove any laps that you want. Also, if you don't have the file auto analyze, you can choose whether you want it to add laps or not. Personally I choose to not have it add the laps because I am always doing user intervals so I have my own laps. Although if I am doing a circuit race, the...

This is one of the new features of the auto route analysis. Since it can now detect out and back (even if you rode out, did a loop, and then rode back) we can look at other things involved in that ride. Windy days can trigger drafting but it's not going to change anything that much. You can also che...

With the auto wind, if it's a very calm day (or if you're in an enclosed garage, you shouldn't need to cup your hand over the wind port. Re: Changing stem-Is a complete re-cal needed?

The wind scaling could change.

But what you could do is a cal ride and determine what your new wind scaling is and then update it on your previous profile, making sure to keep the cda the same (or right around the same depending on the new angle of the stem).

Re: Changing stem-Is a complete re-cal needed?

Make sure that the iBike is mounted in the same position relative to the faceplate of the stem and you should be good enough to where you won't need to do a different calibration. You may need to if the front of the stem is in a shape that would influence the "air wake" going into the wind...

A couple things are going on with this ride file. The first is that you don't have any profile loaded. Every paramter (weight, aero, friction) is set to zero. Do you have any of the profiles stored on your computer? If so then try re-sending that to the iBike. Also, your tilt is way off. The iBike t...

There's some good stuff in here, but concerning the top pros. . .some of the numbers can be a bit off. In road racing, sprinting is more about timing and momentum.
