Re: What is AeroPod where does it inthe whole scheme of things?
I liked the Newton+ too and the uncluttered Display (in daytime anyway). Modern headunits have turn-by-turn notifications, mapping, phone notifications etc. I think they had a choice between trying to compete in a market with giant sized companies or concentrate on what they do best, so I understand...

Re: Upgrading from Newton to Aeropod, & Wahoo TICKR
Incidentally the device calls itself “powerpod” and not “Aeropod”. That wasn’t me being odd. I just hadn’t corrected it when I took the screenshot.

Re: Upgrading from Newton to Aeropod, & Wahoo TICKR
I answered my own question; FB866ACB-D82B-404D-B3B0-4818DCC26402.jpeg The Powerpod appears in the Wahoo App as a source for Power, Speed and Cadence. Even in a non-4 profile it doesn’t bridge heart rate so you still need a Bluetooth heart rate monitor. I haven’t tested on any other devices, like wat...

Re: Upgrading from Newton to Aeropod, & Wahoo TICKR
I guess my point is pointless as I didn’t realise the Aeropod transmitted power over Bluetooth to third party apps. I can however confirm that the 4iiii Viiiiva app bridges the Aeropod power data to the Wahoo phone app on iPhone. Bit pointless though if I could have got power direct over Bluetooth. ...

Re: Upgrading from Newton to Aeropod, & Wahoo TICKR
We were writing at the same time: this is what I said: “I can confirm that the Aeropod transmits Ant+ power to the 4iiii Viiiiva which bridges it to Bluetooth as recorded in 4iiii’s own app. My past experience is that the Wahoo app is good at handling multi threaded data connections and so it should...

Re: Security Mod
Thanks, I had a thought about the screws for the mount anyway; loctite High strength. People don’t generally carry flamethrowers or paint removers around with them. For the 1 bolt attaching the AP itself I think a combination of a security bolt and medium strength thread locker should be adequate. E...

Re: Upgrading from Newton to Aeropod, & Wahoo TICKR
This is exactly what I have done. I have the Wahoo Tickr X variety of Tickr as the memory is useful for wetsuit swimming. The lack of display is vaguely annoying, but I use an old watch (Ambit 2S). If I exceed the speed limit for motorised traffic it turns the light on as I’ve written a program on i...

Instructions on how to merge data types
I actually mainly do this with swimming but can see no reason it wouldn’t work with cycling (I merge GPS/pace/stroke rate from a Platysens Marlin with HR data from a Wahoo Tickr X that has a memory). Powerhouse App syncs to Strava with no HR data, although it should have Bluetooth HR as even rubbish...

Re: Powerhouse and VeloTrack Apps
I think I found the answer to this question with trial and error. I only activated the powerhouse app and it sent GPS data to Strava when I asked it. It didn’t send the data to your server and magically appear in Isaac. It seems like both apps need to be running, which is a pity as I thought I’d be ...

Security Mod
I wouldn’t feel safe leaving the AP on the bike whilst swimming & the device has already got a bit scuffed from putting on and off, so I wondered about replacing the screw that holds the device and the two in the device with security screws that no one is likely to have a bit to undo. As there i...

Re: First impressions
Please go blue for one in future devices. It is at the end of the visual spectrum. Also it activates peripheral vision, whereas red light doesn’t. They obviously designed traffic lights before we knew about visual pigments, but we’ve known for not far off half a century that all of the usual periphe...

Re: profile transfer from Newton
I think if may now be sorted. I found an old iBike dual sensor I never installed. Possibly complete coincidence, but I think I did it over lunch. The old sensor was an old Wahoo from 8yrs ago that worked on Newton, Suunto Ambit 2S, 4iiii Sportiiii etc. I performed the test without even the phone in ...

Re: profile transfer from Newton
I switched to using a Suunto Ambit 2S for display. Need to change setting so light stays on though. The first time out i saw it go up to 2W, but then i got the alternating colours. So, i replaced battery in SC and moved a Wahoo Speed Sensor. I think it may have worked, although my previously paired ...

Re: First impressions
I have a Shimano cm1000 camera. It communicates the mode using combination of different colour LEDs. I don’t think I will ever understand it. I don’t ever change the mode and it just sits on 720p at 60fps. The one thing I would do differently is the selection of LEDs. 5% of the male population is co...

Re: profile transfer from Newton
I did this, but possibly made it complicated. I managed to get some time before sunset to ride in the local park on a road. The city is full of traffic and it is otherwise impossible not to draft. I followed the instructions completely up till the pairing. At that point I turned it on and connected ...

Powerhouse and VeloTrack Apps
Quick Q I can’t find answer to: if the Powerhouse is running is it necessary to also have the VeloTrack App running in the phone’s background? Incidentally, the developers’ version of Golden Cheetah currently Syncs with Strava. As you know it is open source and free. If you need both apps to be runn...

£2.85 is the cheapest I’ve found. One of the pictures shows a little plastic spudger being needed to remove it from a phone.

Re: USB connection - form factor is not Micro-USB
You are right. I’ve looked at my old Newton+ too. I think it may be the same. I had always assumed it may have been me being stupid that had made it square by putting it in the wrong way. To me actually this is reassuring, if slightly confusing. I actually use magnetic two piece things now for charg...

Re: TT bike mounting
I think Tririg like between the arms bottle holders, which means two screws somewhere normally. I have a Tririg Sigma Stem and have some Aluminium sheet (cuts relatively easily for even this person with no skills and if you use a vertical and horizontal piece it is stiff). I was going to make into a...

Please don’t ship to the U.K. using UPS anymore. Not only are the admin fees higher for the import taxes, but they are completely useless. From their website:
“From version 3.4 it has been possible for the user to write their own metrics using data filters, as of version 3.5 it is now possible to use Python and R scripts to perform computations as well” - so they should be shareable!

Re: Comprehensive Instructions for AeroPod
1) Does the phone have capability to connect to Bluetooth Heart Rate monitors and if a Garmin device is connected to a HRM, will it’s file (in the future)contain both CdA and HR data simultaneously? 2) I guess a subquestion is if I record HR data using a HRM with a memory or another separate device...
