Introducing iBike Newton PowerStroke

Boy, there's 1,000 pages we could write about this amazing product, its benefits, and its extremely cool technology. But that would take far too long, so instead we've made a 4 minute video, available here:

Much more information will be coming soon!

Re: 50 watt discrepancy between trainer and outside

Here is the outdoor ride file. Thank you. Wow, it's almost as flat where you live as it is in Florida! You have a very low drag coefficient; please confirm that you are using a TT bike, and also provide your height. Also, your ride file suggests that you are riding in the draft quite often. Is this...

There's no need to scan prior to riding. You should be able to start your ride, and everything should work.

Re: sram quarq set up

Your Quarq is not calibrated; it's numbers are crazy! (Your Newton looks just fine) Though I am not familiar with the Quarq, I believe that if you turn the crank backwards three times, that calibrates the Quarq. You might want to check with Quarq. The Newton is only recording the numbers being sent ...

I use water and a soft, non-scratching cloth. If that doesn't work, try a gentle window cleaner.

Re: Your tilt calibration appears to be invalid

All is well.

In the Check Calibration feature, Isaac is trying to separate out two very similar tilt factors. It is extremely difficult to do this, and sometimes Isaac gets a bit confused.

I occasionally get this message, and I ignore it.

All I did was answer the questions when prompted by the Isaac software and then do the calibration ride.

Where did things go wrong?

Thanks,

Don't know. We will take a look at the setup sequence.

Re: Profile for a Cyclocross bike?!?!?

Your Newton should work just fine with your cyclocross bike.

The problem is your excessively high Crr of 0.0191. This would be like riding your bike in the sand...

Use a Crr of 0.0054 and your watts will drop to a correct 124.

Corrected profile is attached.

Re: Another Feature request

You don't need to do a setup ride when in trainer mode. Tilt calibration is not necessary either. Skip the setup ride and tilt and proceed directly to the Fitness Test, which will measure your FTP. Then, you can start the plans. Make sure to do a setup ride and tilt before your first outdoor workout!

I was embarrassed to say anything here because it seems impossible to me that new software could cause a battery drainage problem, but I've thoroughly cleaned the battery contacts (even used a spot of dielectric grease, popular here in wet, salty Hi) and still this new version seems to draw power e...

Re: Riding a days ride over again?

You'll have the option to save the completed ride. If you choose not to save the ride, then you can do it over.

Since you do a Fitness Test prior to starting with the PH, you'll find that your workouts will be challenging but not impossible. That's the best... :D

Re: Strava upload issues

There is a bug in the PH app that shows itself if you log in to Strava from any other device (computer, iPad etc). After logging in elsewhere, you can't upload rides from the PH app unless you log-in again to Strava from the PH app.

We will fix the bug so that continual log-ins won't be necessary.

Re: OS2 for Dash+Power?

How can i miss the DFPM scan? Whenever you do a Scan, the + Power will pick-up any ANT+ sensor. Apparently the PowerCal reports (bogus, in our view) power numbers on the ANT+ power channel. While there is no way to keep the +Power from detecting the ANT+ PowerCal power signal, there is no reason yo...

Re: The Why's and How's of Wind Offset

When I do wind cals, first I find a flat place that looks pretty wind free. Then I gently place a small plastic transparent plastic bag over the unit and bracket, making sure it’s closed but not tight around the unit or totally closed, so I don’t make a “new atmosphere” around the unit. This way gi...

Re: At long last, the iBike Newton!

It would be interesting to compare iBike Newton to Stages for accuracy. My money's on the iBike. Three comments: 1) The Stages product (one crank arm only) is 50% of a real power meter; that is, it measures power 1/2 as often as a DFPM, and even less often when compared to the Newton. Does anyone b...
