Re: How does drafting affect power readings?
In my effort to 'restate' in simple terms what I see with the graph here is another try: I notice that (by eyeball) in the above comparison graph, the iBike seems to read higher power at the bottom of the valleys and lower at the peaks. If correct, this suggest, to me, a higher degree of smoothing. ...

Re: iBike suitable for night rides?
Helmet lights . . . While I have seen adds for bike specific, I purchased a strap on LED light at Walmart and the straps can be used through the vents on my helmet just fine. The light is enough to fill in on the road some for my headlight and if I look at the iBike, then I can see it or whatever el...

Re: Gen III and Riding Tilt
Raceferns ride data is great! Just to restate his comments about the exagerated green line variation. The X scale of only 35 feet shows a maximum, by eye, difference of about 20' between the blue and red lines. This 20' max difference is in the noise on a ride with high changes in elevation where th...

Re: How does drafting affect power readings?
Wow, this is a huge improvement. Looking forward to my gen III unit! I notice in Boyd's 1000watt sprint power curves, it looks like a phase lag on the higher power, say 300w and up, parts of the graphs. I mean, the dpfm rise and fall lead the gen III, resulting in (if it really is a lag in reporting...

Re: Weird Speed Measurements Lately
Sorry about the wheel problems. As to the magnet and extra sensing, I have a similar problem, I think due to using a higher strength magnet than is stock. To solve the problem, I have to open a wider that normal gap between the magnet and the sensor. This brings 100% reliable operation. I like the c...

Re: New iBike 2.0.8 software
My Sunday ride has a +6.9 and a -6.6 % grade, the range on the graph is +5 and -6 so those two slope peaks are clipped graphically. However when I center the cursor and click I can read the correct numbers that I quoted above. I tried all the tips herein - autoscale y, fit plot and changing to small...

Re: wireless required for trainer mode?
As to the other part of your question, yes the iBike trainer mode works fine on a wired mount. I do that. Infact (and others here) spliced in an extension to use the short front wheel type on my rear wheel.

That has been asked before! So you can put 'track' in the search box and fast forward over the gps track and the like stuff or maybe the main thread from that search is this:

Re: How much lag in displayed power from Quarq CinQo?
Coach, Glad you got the new chain. But the fact that your power meters match at lower power makes me more suspicious! Here is a quote from Sheldon Brown's web page on the topic: "The worn chain has "stretched" so that it no longer matches the original pitch of the sprocket. The sprock...

Re: How much lag in displayed power from Quarq CinQo?
Coach, Don't forget that the Quarq at the cranks is before transmittion loss and the iBike is after all such losses (including tire friction, which the SRM is also ahead of). Besides that, just incase, I'd do a quick check for chain stretch and the like just incase both meters are telling the truth!...

Travia, your: Observations: * 2 of the 3 results are good and the 3rd wasn't terrible. Here are the tilt errors: 1. +0.05 points (+4.7 W) 2. +0.03 points (+2.8 W) 3. +0.15 points (+13.1 W) Are much appreciated!!! My observations: 1. Now THAT is a really GREAT dashboard!!! 2. Glad someone has a real ...

Re: Adjusting riding tilt in a profile
I don't know if any of my experience is relavant but here it is. My two normal positions on the bike are on the prodesign aero bars and the hoods. The hoods give me a greater downward tilt than the bars. I haven't isolated another possible contrib yet but I think that sliding forward and to the rear...

Re: Systemic tilt error
I live in a windy place too :-( With my catseye showing speed and my iBike showing wind spd (air speed really); Some wind calibration accuracy checks I use: If some flag or hanging cloth streamers are still, no wind so check for a match. If my preestablished downhill coasting speed is normal for no ...

Re: Systemic tilt error
I know you guys don't like a dashboard full of wind dragging instruments on your bikes (I do :-). But... I find that my catseye showing speed and the iBike displaying wind speed give me a good eyeball on the quality of my wind scaling. With no wind, the wind or 'air speed' should match the bikes spe...

Re: Turning unit on after stopping
What I did was just a step different.... While the iBike is still asleep. Rotate the crank and wheel to wake the sensors (pick up the rear end of bike) Hit the button on the iBike and the speed should flash and announce that it has round the sensors (like normal).. Ride on.. This way you don't loose...

Re: Erratic speeds
For what it's worth, On my first ride with wireless, headed over to my most frequent CD place, I noticed 50+k/h speeds. I vaguely remembered some tip (like above probably) about the magnets and sensors. So I stopped and pivoted my speed sensor away from the magnet a tad. Has worked fine ever since! ...

Re: The Why's and How's of Wind Offset
A new trick I use to calibrate my wind offset mid ride.... I have a few left over small baby wash rags from when the kids.... I was carrying one to wipe sweat from my eyes. Re: Features I would like to see?
Along the lines of rrufs comment, I'd like to be able to use the results from a calibration in the other position(s), perhaps actually specify the profile to use below x speed (and y speed if multiple allowed) instead of just a 2nd CDA which in itself is very nice, btw! I used the snapshot to determ...

Re: New user questions
Myuce, Glad you are having fun with your new iBike! 1. yes, just don't let it warm up or cool down too much while inside. Also so your mount must be tight and not move when attaching the iBike, etc 2. Well, if you took the iBike off right at the end of the 7.1 mile ride, no problem, I think (never t...

Re: Recumbents?
Funny, I was thinking about this some more last night. I had not considered the faired type of recumbent which I have only seen on the web. On the road I have only seen naked recumbent bikes. So if the question is for a naked type, my further thoughts were that the wireless would be a problem to get...

Re: Recumbents?
I do own a recumbant which is out on loan. I have not tried the ibike on it but here are a couple of ideas: 1. The wireless sensor would let you mount the ibike with greater freedom of placement, main thing would be air flow should not be seriously blocked. 2. Wired sensors, the wires can be cut and...

Itcy-Tichy, One way that occured to me is to: Do a simple CD standing on the peddles. Then Ride a known short flat course (or hill) of your choice, noting the watts, note avg watts. Do a simple CD in the drops and repeat the same course attempting to achieve same avg speed. Note avg watts for second...

I now have one white and one black. I wonder if I might best use the black in the winter as the unit warming more from exposure to sunlight, should extend cold weather battery life a teeny bit.
