Thooey,

Sorry for the bum steer, Thanks to John for the straight scoop!

Re: Feature request - Handling Profiles

Ken and George and all, I have only four profiles for the unit which simplifies. A workaround for me has been to, first, label the profile number in the title in the edit profile list. Second, when I want to download a profile, I select the active profile in the Newton first and it goes by default t...

Re: Power not showing up, Wind questions

Hi thooey, I took a look at your ride with Isaac and tried the tool/repair for missing cadance. Well the power for the repaired section went out of sight (unless you are a very high end rider) but did not seem reasonable to me. So I have no clue about that, I wonder if the strava power data captured...

Re: Bad Slope Data

Hi George, Hard reset does not delete those things or anything that I know of. It does reset the date to a production date of some kind. So, if you do mid ride for some reason, you might want to go into setup and set date/time approximately at least. Of course you will end your ride with two ride fi...

Newton on the WEB

Hi, I saw the iBike Facebook recent Feb 11, 2015 posting a YouTube video by Brian Toone and watched it with interest. Well I was curious and Googled Brian Toone and here is his web site which is currently showing a Isaac screen report on his bike race, very cool! http://toonecycling.com/ Enjoy, Russ...

Re: Another GPX merge thread, and first ride with Newton

I would suggest using some form of editing on the GPX file to give it the same start time as your ride after the cal ride. I am only familiar with Garmin edit capability in the PC app but I expect you can find something. Maybe someone can chime in with an application suggestion or google know so muc...

Re: Road Surface

Barry, Besides changing your profile, I believe John is suggesting you can post analyze that ride you mentioned with a tweeked CRR. In other words, use the analyze/ return to original download choice then choose tweek values and change the CRR to the .008 and observer if the power levels appear more...

Re: Does coast down use wind speed for instructions?

Hello EHB, I took a look today, waiting for the roads to dry :-) I did a return to original download and then did a check cal without the DPFM, then I cancelled that and did a check cal with DPFM and both are close to each other. Your wind cal would seem to be close enough, unless the wind changed d...

Re: Swapped bars & stem

Wow, I just went back and scrolled along through the ride, zoomed in. It becomes apparent that your positive and negative slopes are power related in appearance! Maybe you knew this already. 0-200 w Negative slope 200-400watts balances positive/negative 300-500 aprox 2/3 positive 300-up all positive...

Re: Swapped bars & stem

Davidson_ibike.jpg I find this an interesting view. I don't know track details but is the up and down slope properly unequal for the track? If not, then bike tilt correction may be off, of course dynamics of high and lower power may skew the tilt too. Other wise It looks reasonable to me (maybe I s...

Re: Swapped bars & stem

Hello Pete, I have taken a quick look and two things jump out right off, wind looks unbalanced on the high side and your cda looks really quite a bit below average. So I tried 'return to original download' followed by a check calibration, this is the significant part: Aero 0.292 -> 0.231 Wind Scalin...

Fernando,

You said:
"Perhaps you should split the file into threes, work on the middle section and then unite them."
Interesting idea! I may play with that some, after I read your provided links.

Really appreciate your time,
Thanks,

Re: Newton reading very low all of a sudden

Sorry, I can't resist qualifying my post, cannot be unless you have warp drive wheels :D From your advances stats: Rolling -225 -119.9 -0 W CdA: 0.373 m^2; Crr: -0.0156 Now if you tweek your CRR to .005 (typical) you get this in advanced stats: Power 0 259.1 1084 W Rolling 0 38.4 72 W CdA: 0.373 m^2...

Fernando, I really appreciate your 2cents worth as being quite a bit more in value! And no problem with delay, especially understandable with the Christmas and new year holidays (happy New Year!). I agree on the 46km ride, not worth the effort, but there, I think it did improve accuracy because my w...

Zoltan and all, Full disclosure here, I have nothing to hide when it comes to odd :-) Here is a picture of one of my failed iBike experiments. Re: Auto Shutoff

zoltan, That looks really neat on your new boot, glad that works out for you. Now given Ken's point and if you still want wind data, think more about the trailer idea. If the wheel is not too large, you can double even triple or quadruple the circumference that you tell the iBike is the case. This i...

Re: Auto Shutoff

Zoltan, I have an idea you might try. Purchase one of the hand held wheel distance measuring devices. You may have to extend the handle some way and mount it like a trailer from your belt, probably attached to both sides for stability. Then mount the magnet, sensor and iBike back on your 'trailer'! ...

Re: Auto Shutoff

Hello Zoltan,

I have a possible solution but you may reject it.
With the Newton mounted on top of your hat:
Place a magnet on one boot and a speed sensor on the other!
Trouble with that is to get the data you want you may need to keep a
high cadence :=)

Re: Wind Question & how do I correct it?

Fernando, These are 'corrected' as discussed above. I expect they should be as original when you select analyze - return to original download. I do not have auto correction selected. This is why I suggest taking note of the points of correction before returning to original to see the difference made...

Re: Wind Question & how do I correct it?

Jose and Fernando, Here are two examples of my tweeked rides. Yesterday's ride first, without applying about half of the wind correction that Isaac calculated, nearly all of the wind shown was on the high side. The wind died to zero nearing the end of the ride. During that period there was a clear n...

Re: Wind Question & how do I correct it?

tesmurphy and racefern, I do normally use the route correction as it is rare that the barometric pressure stays same over my ride and if the wind wasn't steady (normally the case) check the 'wind changed' box. This way it will only correct the elevation and if I find that the wind dropped of rose on...

Re: CROSSED WIND

Pete, Nice link. I played with it and you are correct 90 degrees of crosswind has some effect. However at 97 degrees and a bike speed at the default of 40kh, the effective speed was 40.03, really not much. So at some angle of cross wind and speed, it is nill basically. The removal of wind in Josej f...

Re: CROSSED WIND

Josej, It is interesting that if you select that portion and use the correct for blocked wind sensor repair tool, accept wind as zero, then your average watts for that section rises from 218 to 290 watts or so. I think, if the wind is exactly 90 degrees off center perhaps that is justified since it ...

Isaac can't send corrected profile to Gen 3

Hello Velocomp, I dusted off my b/u Gen 3 iBike as I am packing my Newton+ to ship to Tom Gore for service. Yesterday I took it for a ride and ran the check calibration function to correct the wind scaling, which was the only change When I clicked send to iBike, it popped up an error: Following para...
