Re: Temperature adjustment in Isaac 3.0.2
it would be really nice if the temperature was accurate. Though I fully understand that it is not that important for the power calculations, it would be nice if when I download my data the temperature it says is what my weather station states.

Re: New Garmin Speed/Cadence Sensor
I have these sensors and yes they work fine with the Newton, there is only one thing that is weird, the cadence sensor starts where it went to sleep. So for things like powerstroke, where to work correctly it needs to know where the the trigger point is on the revolution, ie the chain stay and more ...

Re: Temperature adjustment in Isaac 3.0.2
actually the temperature factor is not all that significant in the overall calculation of power. The temperature is used to interpret the density of air which is also affected by humidity and elevation so in the big picture the change of temperature all other things held constant is not going to aff...

Re: Firmware 5.1
I've been using an iBike since the very first one and I've been fortunate to be a "beta" tester over the years. I wasn't very involved in the latest FW5 development and was inclined to leave my Newton alone with an older version. However being the glutton for punishment that I am, I did a...

If I do a Cal Wind on my Newton with the 5.0 firmware! Is this stored permanently on the Newton? Or is it lost if I do say a Hard Reset, or for any other reason? I Thank you for your help and insight! Chris I believe a hard reset sends everything back to factory presets, meaning you need to do all ...

I would love to see a calendar view of activities so that you could easily click to open a file rather than go through a standard file menu, as well it would be nice if it was possible when you save different file types to open up a specified file location, I could see this as part of the options me...

Re: Lower watts than expected and no cadence reported
definitely an issue with your cadence. I would try to search/pair your cadence sensor. Go to set up and scan for your sensors, it should say cad fnd if not then you have a cadence battery issue or it is not awake. I have on occasion had to pair my sensors a couple of times to get them all to show. W...

Re: new Garmin inertial cadence sensor signal
quoe from garmin support regarding the new inertial cadence sensor:"if you started the rotation at 3:00 the rotation would end at 3:00. It all depends on where you begin the rotation." so if you put it away or let it go to sleep at the same location as your typical cadence sensor hen it sh...

new Garmin inertial cadence sensor signal
here is a bit of an interesting dilemma, I was told by Garmin that the new Garmin Inertial cadence sensor does not send the signal out at a specific point in the revolution, ie the 3 o'clock position, but rather only when it has performed 1 complete revolution depending upon where it woke up from, w...

Re: braking
it may have something to do with your cadence sensor? Notice that when it says you are braking your power and your cadence is zero. If you are producing 0 power and not peddling going up hill that seems odd as well as the implied braking. The braking algorithm probably is base not only on the accele...

I tend to agree with you in a case where the difference is significant then it should do exactly what it says, change the full profile after the ride not just some of it.

Re: out of saddle algorithm?
I am not certain I understand the drops vs hoods thing you speak of. This is only in the quick set up I think? and is as I see it just a stop gap until you do a real calibration. It just uses generally accepted data for the average riders CdA either drops or hoods, as far as I am aware the iBike doe...

that is a good point Fernando, though I do not see the point in changing profiles if it does not affect the weight as well. THe point you made about weight is a generally good one, and I had not thought to look at analyze setting tab, that is really what I wanted. In essence I had 2 profiles one for...

it would seem that the out of saddle algorithm does not work well for me? I climbed a full hill out of the saddle and it actually only shows a small section near top of hill??? not certain how to insert the screen capture though to show it.

Re: Facebook discussion of light vs heavy rims
I think the key thought was that of inertia. That is why they put so much mass in a fly wheel, it will want to keep rolling, so once a heavy wheel gets up to speed it will want to stay there more so than a light wheel but conversely the lighter wheel will be more willing to change speed so it is an ...

Re: incorrect temperature reading
well no doubt about it, the temperature is reading 5-6 deg C high, actual was 0 to -1 deg C but newton was thinking 6-7, and this is a white unit so not related to sun as far as I can tell. I assume the temperature used in calculations in the algorithm is deg kelvin so the mathematical difference be...
