Re: Analyze Route?

so John then what you are saying is that the analyze route function does more of a wind correction than an elevation correction? I find telling my Newton what the elevation is at start up a pain, and sometimes I do not know the elevation when I start, however there may be points along the ride where...

Re: Analyze Route?

ronpei, Sorry, most of your questions are out of my realm, ie software functions are Velocomp's job. We frequently suggest changes and occasionally John includes them in releases. Perhaps automatic elevation checks could be added to the gps related functionality.... Russ yes, Russ that was one of m...

Re: Analyze Route?

Russ, quick point the elevation correction seems to have what I would suggest is a significant impact on power. I do not see the reason for it. The change can be as little os 30-40 meters and the NP will be affected by at least 5%. This is rather obvious that when it says I finished my ride below se...

Re: Analyze Route?

I find that when I adjust the elevation from what the barometer thought it was to what I enter as true that the normalized power almost always changes. No other changes, just enter proper elevation. So for instance, if it reads even 40 meters out from reality there will be a noticeable change in the...

Re: Feature request: download stand-alone GPS from NT server

another thing that would be nice is the ability to stop the up load try hen there is no network, it wastes time and is a bit annoying. I would prefer if it said up load now ye/ no so I could choose to start my next ride sooner. Sometimes I end one ride then later start again where I have no way to u...

Re: APS not switching profiles what is wrong

Hi John actually I tried these based upon another reply you had made. The wo bikes were on different floors so I was careful that they were not interfering with each other. I also tried clearing the profiles and reloading them from Isaac so that they would search for ant + id's. As I say the id's pe...

Re: APS not switching profiles what is wrong

the only common ant+ id that is common is my heart rate sensor, they are adjacent ie profile 1 and 2, that is why I am baffled, based upon my understanding everything should be right, yet when I see the bulls eye stop blinking and spin the wheel no cadence or speed displays, I go into set up and the...

APS not switching profiles what is wrong

I have tried many things and so far APS does not work for me. I always have to go into settings and choose the right profile. It seems to not like to pick my bike 2 profile. It can sense and find the speed sensor but it will not seem to work. I have played for an hour and no luck, the only way to ch...

it looks to me as though it has a clear wind path? I would just recalibrate the meter and ride. In either case with or without RWS will require you to recalibrate I think.

Re: Will iBike work with this Garmin Sensor

yes I have them and they work fine. One thing to remember is that the cadence does not trigger like a conventional one on the chainstay and that can cause minor issues with power stroke. To get power stroke to work 100% you need to have the left crank arm in line with the chain stay when you put you...

Re: vein in windport.

out of curiosity when is the vane most important and what is the effect in the case where it makes a difference? For instance i was thinking about this yesterday while riding in a really strong cross wind (50 km/h with gusts coming from a yaw angle nearly 15-45 deg).

Re: Loading F/W upgrade key

there should have been an attachment file FW5_Unlock_xxx that ends with a file extension ".enc" this is the file to drag to your desk top, that is your key that you need to click on when prompted. I hope this works for you.

Re: Heart Rate Fail

one thing to consider is if your strap is tight enough. When you lean forward in the drops you probably round your shoulders and this reduces the tension of the strap and may make the pickup less reliable. Just a thought based upon your description.

Re: Using PowerStroke with DFPM as cadence sensor

I assume the Garmin magnetless (is that a word?) cadense sensor is probably an accelerometer as well. They told me that the revolution starts from where ever the sensor is when it wakes up. So for it to work perfectly with Powerstroke you would have to let it go to sleep with it aligned with the non...

memory full issue question

I am wondering why it is not possible to have the memory management be a simple roll over system similar to what Garmin uses? I have used Garmin for many years and have never had to concern myself with memory full issues, they simply overwrite the oldest data in a simple roll over. I certainly do no...

Re: Newton Tracker sync problem

similar issue yesterday June 16. The annoying issue is when I start up Tracker because there is a ride that was not synced it tries to sync and takes forever (meaning at least a minute) until it fails. For some reason the upload will not work now going on to the second day. Even when I do a simple s...

updating current version 4 to version 5

the manual is avery good, but assumes you are starting from scratch in most cases. What I an interested in knowing is what happens when I upgrade from v4 to v5. What is the best way. Is it as Fernando did, a hard reset then upgrade? or just over lay the 5 right on top of v 4 as is? When I upgrade wh...

it would be really great if you could see a monthly calendar with days highlighted that have ibike data so that you could click on the date and up load a specific ride. Right now i is not user friendly to find a ride and I end up using other software to record and review my data.

I had asked this under the Isaac thread but maybe this is the more appropriate place? I agree that the absolute temperature reading recorded in the Newton is not important to the calculations. What I want is to know why I can not seem to get true readings of the temperature that agree with the outdo...

does the power out option via ant+ work in trainer mode

does the Newton power out option via ant+ work in trainer mode? I am wondering if then you could send the power reading on the trainer to online utilities like trainer road or Zwift. In the latter case you can not work with the calculations to ensure a more correct power out from a dumb trainer usin...
