Re: The Why's and How's of Wind Offset

We have new firmware 3.06 available for Gen III users ONLY, using firmware 3.00 to 3.04 , who are having wind offset problems. This firmware upgrade requires that you follow a simple, but very exact procedure. If the procedure is followed properly your wind offset issues should disappear. If you fol...

Re: Rechargeable Batteries

When we started Velocomp we imagined ourselves on a multi-day bike tour, perhaps in the Western US, more hopefully in the Alps. For our dream tour we wanted 50 hours of memory--enough for storing 6 days of riding. We did that. We also thought about batteries for our tour. When we thought of recharge...

We love CycleOps, so much so that we even made it possible to use their ANT+ wireless hubs with the iAero, instead of their silly yellow gizmo! :D

Re: Speed not working

Try switching sensors; that is, move the blue switch on your working cadence sensor to SPD, and the blue switch on your non-working speed sensor to CAD. Then, see if pairing works. If your speed sensor is bad then it won't work as a cadence sensor either. Your cadence sensor should, however, pair-up...

Re: Hard drive crashed but I have my previous iBike files?

We're not experts on hard drive backups but what you'll need to do is find your profile files (.ibp files), calibration ride files (.ibcd4m) and ride files (iBike*.csv). Of course, you may have a ton of .csv files on your hard drive that aren't ibike files, but unless you used a different naming for...

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING DEFECTIVE GEN 3 CD

We shipped a few Gen III CDs in January 2009 with the wrong files included. If you did not purchase an iBike in January 2009 then you are not affected by this problem. If you purchased an iBike Gen III in January 2009 then please check the iBike CD that was shipped with your Gen III. The CD cover wi...

Watts are not shown in downloaded rides

During your ride, watts show as expected in the iBike screen. However, when your ride is downloaded the watts do not appear, and NaN appears for Crr in the main window. Or, watts appear in the screen, but when the command "Tools/Analyze Power..." is executed, the watts disappear. A bug tha...

Re: Power readings not showing during download?

A bug that we are working on now is the cause of your problem. There is an incorrect number (zero weight) that has been mysteriously stored in your iBike's profile. We don't yet know why the value "zero" happens and we are investigating. The profile stored in your iBike is downloaded autom...

Re: The Why's and How's of Wind Offset

Two days ago we discovered a bug in our cold temperature compensation algorithm that affects some, but not all, Gen III units. The bug causes the kinds of problems described in this thread. Yesterday we got preliminary firmware that fixes the problem. We've tested it and it works very well. We will ...

Re: Wireless sensors and the cold

It sounds like your iBike battery went bad. That causes crazy numbers. In cold weather such as yours we recommend putting in a new battery prior to each ride. A new battery will last 2-5 hours in really cold weather. Then, save the "used" battery for spring. When the temperatures warm your...

Re: iBike for cyclocross?

Since the cyclocross bike has a "stiff" frame, there is no reason the iBike can't work very well. One of our other customers has used the iBike on a cyclocross bike with great success. He has had no problems at all and gets good data. It sounds like you may have a problem with the wired mo...

Re: Failed to display power?

There is a bug in the iB3 software. Please send us your ride file and I will be able to tell if this bug is affecting you. If it is, there is an easy way to pull out your ride file.

In the mean time, do NOT erase the original ride file on your iBike!

Drivetrain losses can be set to 1.00 (no drivetrain loss) in the Advanced Settings menu of the Edit Profiles menu.

No, you do not need to red-do the Cal Ride. The Cal Ride determines wind scaling and riding tilt factors, which are not affected by changes to CdA and Crr numbers.

Re: post ride

The post-ride analysis feature of the iBike 3 software has been "built-in" to the firmware that runs the Gen III iBike. This means that, if you have a Gen III iBike, there is very little difference between pre-and-post analyzed rides. I no longer "analyze" my Gen III rides. You a...

The "Erase Ride Data" command only erases your ride file data. You are correct that all calibration and profile data is stored in a different area of memory and is not erased.

With a low battery temperature, power, and elevation readings go crazy. All readings stored in the iBike's memory (profile settings, ride data) remain untouched.

Re: The cold

If you had checked your battery voltage once the iBike's temperature had reached 34F, I bet it would have been below 2.75!

The 2.75V recommendation is for warm, summer temperatures.

In winter I'd put in a new battery prior to every ride, especially when the outdoor temperature is 34F.
