Hi all is there a way to bypass the auto shutoff and make it manual only. Thanks for any input Jeff I found out by accident the other day that if you are in "fit train mode" Newton will not auto shutoff I put it in "fit train" towards the end of my commute to time & average ...

Re: Wind sensor problems
I had a similar issue yesterday During my morning ride [it was humid from overnight rain] power went to zero/low numbers for about the last 15mins of the ride. It was still the same for my morning commute (different profile) other than a small period of crazy high numbers And still the same for comm...

41 lbs is only 18.6kg
Assuming you got divide & multiply the wrong way around, correct weight is 90.2kg
Which is actually 198.44 lbs.

Re: Wind Question & how do I correct it?
I find that the wind sometimes "corrects" after doing an 'analyse route'.
Particularly I regularly notice that a tailwind will be corrected to a 'drafting' scenario.
Just thought I'd mention it as it might be more of an altitude/inclination thing than wind itself.

John, I hope your team can find a solution for wet weather performance. Aircraft pitot tubes and the pressure sensors function in wet and freezing conditions. Of course, those are around $10K each! I look forward to an all-weather version Newton. A possible partial work-around could be something li...

It seems like the W' maths have been simplified such that computation via a head unit is more viable So the integral computation for W'bal was expensive. Re: APS question
If I take my son on a training ride with our Newton on his bike, is there any 'risk' that APS will pick up my sensors and switch profiles mid-ride?
Eg If I re-start from lights ahead of him?
Or does Newton need to get out-of-range of the 'old' profile before selecting a new one?

Re: Auto Shutoff
Perhaps also worth noting that even after auto shut off, when you manually turn back on the same ride will continue.
A new ride won't be triggered for something like four (?) hours of inactivity eg overnight.
You can always manually reset a new ride and/or split/combine files afterwards.

hmmm, I guess you can look at that the other way that your one hour 'best' shouldn't include a 'pause' at the coffee shop :) I think the GC guys might do some work to use the timestamp instead of the 'moving time' from the CSV files so that various such derived metrics use real time. Although some t...

Re: Compatible Trainers Update
Is it (or could it be) possible to conduct some sort of coast-down calibration on trainers to derive an 'offset' to account for variable applied tension and/or tyre pressure? Re: Lower watts than expected and no cadence reported
I found last week (first time I tried some intervals on my commute bike) the cadence dropped out due the magnet on crank arm moving. Unlike yours, mine dropped out during the ride so I had a portion with & without. I found power over-reported during the portion without cadence. Because I was usi...

Re: Velocomputer
In physics power is defined as force x speed. Naturally, to do this calculation you've got to start the calculations at some defined point. In the Newton (and in all other devices for that matter) the ride file begins when motion or cadence is detected. So, if you're starting from a dead stop, in a...

You could use the "TT/Interval" mode* which displays Ave Power, current power and interval duration. A single press centre will trigger new intervals (ie similar to laps) including restart of the duration * For more info see page 38 of instructions: "SPECIAL FEATURE #3: “TIME-TRIAL IN...

Wind stats always seem to be 'relative to bike' in the advanced stats box?
IE even if the ride plot is charting 'relative to ground', the min/ave/max will still be "high".
Maybe there is a specifc setting for this I'm missing?

Re: Display filtering time over intervals
You are on trainer or on the road? If you are on the road the Newton must be set to a user profile (I presume, to get the correct power) Not sure why it wouldn't get the display filter from there? If you simply haven't set it via your user profile then do it via 'set up' -> filter (set to 10 or more)

I was mostly interested in the magnet-less aspect because that seems to be a common issue for some folks here and I've had some initial trouble with that too. Anyway I see Garmin now have something out and the review by DC Rainmaker mentions others on the way. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/05/garm...
