Re: Tilt Cal R.I.P.

Today I started out and flatted about 10 minutes walk from home. So I walked the (i)bike home : -) After repair, headed out and noticed zero power unless I really pushed hard. I realized the tilt had gone somewhere South of the border so I stopped and did (fortunately you put it back) a tilt cal the...

Re: Slope question

Regarding the Velocomputer smart sensor, the entry level does not use their accelerometer and basically is just a very accurate bike computer. And I am not pushing their product per say. What I am suggesting is that they may either license their 1 degree precision tech or supply the sensor as a repl...

Re: Slope question

Kens said: There's a device out there with a name disturbingly similar to Velocomp that uses two magnets near the hub and a magnetometer to measure the field between them to a claimed 1 degree or 0.01 metres precision. But it is Bluetooth rather than ANT+ and John said that it only measures speed/di...

Re: Slope question

nsidirop, Your original question, I am strongly impressed, would be in the realm considered iBike proprietary secrets. So the best Zoltan, me and others who are more interested in how things work can do is make analysis based on physics and how the devices such as accelerometers perform in the realm...

Re: Snapshot CdA's

andrep, Since I have been tinkering with snapshot Cda since it was first released I will offer some observations that may help you. On my typical rides, coasting downhill, I typically see a range of variability in my 'snapshot Cda' readings. That said, most of the hills on my ride vary in the roughn...

Hi Davis6022, Here are two ancient discussions of that: http://www.ibikeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=564&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a and http://www.ibikeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1300&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=trainer+formula I don't have a DFPM so have...

Re: Another bike

Hey EdgarCR, I do not remember if that model has more than one profile memory. If not then you have to download the profile that matches the bike each time you switch. You can go into setup and scroll through, if you find the option for profile (number) you can hit the center button and select anoth...

Re: Anybody successfully run Garmin ANT agent and Isaac on a Mac

I do not work with Mac's but I am a Unix admin type. So an idea, if you have the patience and some Unix (Osx) knowledge may be a kludgy workaround. The idea is to start back from scratch as you did when you received the Garmin units, install them and get the Ant stick to work. Next backup all of the...

Re: Introducing iBike Newton PowerStroke

I had some thoughts today, about this. It occurred to me that this might actually be a feature request. So perhaps I should tell more of what I am interested in. I am not interested in the wobble data being added to the exported CSV file. I am just interested in the higher frequency 16 per second no...

Re: Introducing iBike Newton PowerStroke

Congratulations of another fine improvement to the product line! I watched the video and read the instructions but have one question. When recording for power stroke at 16 observations per second, does Isaac export the CSV with the 16 per second data? If so,I will buy it for that feature. Since I am...

Re: Odometer comes up short after stops

All magnet triggered odometers require a pass of the magnet over the sensor to assume a wheel revolution. So how to treat a stopped condition and then a restart? Many cyclometers simply treat a magnet pass as a magnet pass and add it to the accumulated distance. Whereas many bike computers instead ...

Odometer comes up short after stops

iBike_03_09_2013_1542_3_km_AP_Measure ib8T.ibr I recently calibrated my odometer on a measured 1.7km course. I have both a Bontrager bike computer that uses ant+ and the iBike Newton both sharing the same wheel and cadance sensors (separate sensors). I do this so I can keep the iBike set to show wi...

Norbike said: "What I have found is that the wind sensor has to be tilt depended (Newton), so I think that it’s not a good idea to unmount the unit " I have also observed, not exactly a dependency but rather an oddly intermittent sensitivity, may be the way to best describe it. I have noti...

Re: Using Newton on a Touring Bike

Kens and Zoltan and all, I am still tinkering along. I found, on the same day of my last cal ride and O&B check, another good check ride. I had gone back over the the 6% hill I have been using and did four high speed coastdowns. I also had walked it once to see if that gave any better hill data....

Note that these 01/05 and 01/12 values are with 'adjusted' selected. These, all three are with 700x32 Gatorskin H...

Re: Using Newton on a Touring Bike

Just thought I would add a few qualifying comments about the above post. 1. My Cda is higher than in my earlier measurements of .407 or so to .414-.421 depending on my measurement runs. This is due to heavier, looser jersey and insulated legs and new disk brakes on the bike. 2. So I selected a 'targ...

Guys, I guess Kens inspired me and I did another calride today, wind was not too bad so gave it a crack! Re: Using Newton on a Touring Bike

A couple of quick tips with the analytic cycling tool above for terminal velocity. The speed answer is the top point of the y axis. Multiply by 3600 to get meters per hour. I extended the time to 150 arbitrarily to extend the plot to make sure the T.V. is achieved. Setting the entry speed near the T...

Re: Using Newton on a Touring Bike

Kens and all, I have done more analysis using analytic cycling...this time with the Terminal Velocity on a Slope tool. This requires no ref to a power meter at all, and seems a tad less finicky than the coastdown method (so far). That said, I am still starting out with the Cda from the photo analysi...

Things are so slow on the forum, thought I would add this post! I am a fitness rider, 66 years old and less motivated for speed since I had a class 3 AC shoulder separation from hitting a dog Nov, 07. Re: Loose fitting on stem mount??

I did an experiment, it is possible to screw in the locking screw with the iBike sitting on top of the mount tongue, then it will wiggle. I don't know it that is the problem but if the mount tongue is properly slid into the grooves on the Newton, then it is fairly snug, even without the bolt screwed...
