Is there an issue with my PowerPod?

I have sent my PowerPod in for repair because I was getting wild wind calibration results. They reset it, and sent it back. I now have an AeroPod, and am only interested in this thing for possible use on my wife's bike. However, if it is wildly inaccurate (even after careful attempts at calibration)...

Is there a place where the current FW version is listed?

Re: How's the CdA experimenting going with everyone?

I am thinking to get really good results, you would need to have a statistical ensemble of the wind scaling factor. Instead of doing one calibrating ride, do 5 and average the wind scaling factors. This should sort out all the gusts, and also give you a standard deviation that tells you how reliable...

Kestrel Link (feature request)

The most uncontrollable variable in this whole equation is crossing your fingers that no subtle gust comes along and messes with the calibration ride. I am learning that small gusts are imperceptible, and lead to significant variability in the wind scaling factor in calibration rides. Kestrel makes ...

I noticed the elevation that shows in the AeroPod data is off by a couple hundred feet, can this be changed?

How's the CdA experimenting going with everyone?

I am wondering how your CdA experiments going. I am just getting my AeroPod dialed in very carefully to make sure my data is repeatable enough to see subtle changes in equipment to come out of the noise. How is it going for the rest of you? I am finding weight measurement is EXTREMELY important as w...

Power Calculation in Profile #4?

For my own comparison purposes. Does the power recorded in profile #4 calculated from a rolling average of the changing CdA, or the original CdA in the profile?

Re: Isaac/PowerHouse/Weight -- feature request

That is true. It would be nice if it had an advanced mode where you can tweak ALL of the profile parameters. It would be very nice to be able to toggle trainer mode too.

Isaac/PowerHouse/Weight -- feature request

I am getting really good results after spending some time "nerding out" and being VERY careful about weight (average power deltas within 1/10th of a Watt from DFPM). I am using a known good scale (used at the Dr's office). It turns out that the best data comes from going very fast down a s...

Re: Possible to test Cda with high-speed roll down?

Update: I see that the AP re-calibrates after every profile change, and it looks like there was not enough time for it to recalibrate in the short ride posted above. I rode to my second job, a long 15mile climb to the college. Difference between DFPM and AP total work is now less than 1%. A lot of w...

Re: PowerPod no data-file after ride

I have fixed this strangely by putting the PP in trainer mode, then taking it back out. Try it. I don't know why this works, but it has fixed this issue a couple of times for me.

Re: Possible to test Cda with high-speed roll down?

When I do a coast down, why am I not able to bring up the power values up from zero using the "change profile after the ride", but I am able to do this with "tweak CdA etc.." function? In the discussion above, I see that the preference is given to the latter because it is suppose...

Temperature and Windscale?

I noticed the windscaling factor changed dramatically on a cal ride this morning. The conditions were very calm, but COLD. Can temperature effect the calibration by as much as 20%? Also, a while back. I "nerded" out on the physics, and came up with SF=(Avg Wheelspeed/Avg Windspeed)^2 for t...

Re: Powerpod recalibration

The wind scaling factor could be off because the wind port is now oriented differently. I would try a recalibrate. The PP recalls itself for angle automatically if the unit is angled within a certain range. However, that process only takes 80s I believe.

Re: Switch Profile from #4 to #3?

I was able to get it to switch without a cal ride. The same sensors, and I wanted to use all the same parameters from my CdA profile (#4) to #3. 1. I edited the number. 2. I used the "Set Active Profile" feature to select #3. 3. Sent the edited profile. 4. Extracted profile from device -- ...

How much to fix this issue on the PP? When I get it fixed, I will see if I can do a cal ride, then bomb a hill to reproduce the issue.

Switch Profile from #4 to #3?

If I just edit the name of a profile from #4 to #3, will it just become a normal profile, or do I have to set up from scratch for profile 3?

PowerPod mount flange broke

I guess from wear and tear of switching bikes, one of my power pod mounting flanges broke. I now have an AeroPod. The main difference I notice (other than realtime CdA) the wind data is WAY better, and the scaling factor works for all wind speeds. I am not sure I want to get it repaired. Should the ...

Thanks, John I got the ground wind, but what is wind offset? I see that it is a function of the other. In other words, I can’t make them both zero at once.

The analyze wind feature is not really thoroughly explained in the instructions. What does wind offset do? The ground wind makes sense, but the changes it makes do not seem to be actually applied to the ride if one hits accept. Could someone clarify?

Is the AeroPod ok in the rain like the PowerPod was? I am concerned about water/dirt getting in the Petot tube. If it does, I am certain a pipe cleaner can clear it, but not sure about the sensor port itself.
