Re: FW 5.0 problems
John, Glad you are on to something. I just emailed Tom with s/n and my 10/13 ride file, I was off yesterday :-) I notice both ride files only produce NP and no IF, TSS etc and both refuse to do an analyze/check calibration. As I said in email to Tom, if the S/N is bad, it must have gotten clobbered ...

Re: FW 5.0 problems
John, I solved problem number 1 with profile number 1, using device/setup/units I was able to reset the profile in the unit to metric. I then thought, heck I will reset the device profiles and resend my stored ones to the unit. The response was that this was not a supported function with my unit. It...

Re: FW 5.0 problems
John, Most of the excess words were to document how I got into these problem states. Short form attempt now is: 1. Profile number 1 is stuck in English mode, resending metric to the unit will not change it back to metric (it was metric all along) 2. In the attached ride file from profile number 4, y...

Thanks for the idea, in thinking back where I said: "First thing I noticed was in attempting to remove the wireless ID's from the profile to rediscover them, Isaac would not allow this." Best I recall, I did at some point get them set to zero but the old wireless ID's kept creeping back, e...

FW 5.0 problems
Hello Velocomp, I have run FW5.0 in my Newton+ since day one but used no special features and made no changes to any profiles, everything worked great, until yesterday when I attempted a profile change. Now I have at least two problems which I will describe. The profile environment I had in place wa...

Re: Using Newton on a Touring Bike
I do not go off road much but here are my thoughts. 1. cal ride and CD's on smooth pave to establish the baseline Cda and Crr. 2. options: A. CD's on chosen rough road, etc and force Cda back to above value. Actually I have only been able to 'try' various CRR's until the Cda comes to match baseline....

Re: Using Newton on a Touring Bike
Ken said: " I found my cda on faster downhills was higher " I have observed this in the past and now with the more recent firmware improvements (road bike and over sized cross bike used as a road bike) I am getting more stable cda displays.... I have now concluded there are two primary con...

Re: Newton Tracker and Wahoo RFLKT
Hi smpratt02030, I do not actually know the answer but I doubt it as Wahoo lists the apps known to be coded to work with the RFLKT. I use the Wahoo fitness app with my RFLKT+ to collect gps and other data in parallel with the iBike. The RFLKT, of course, allows me to diplay the extra data I like to ...

Re: TT Aerobars Mounting
Deepsand, Looks really cool! Not sure if - 2 things... 1. rigid enough so that it does not significantly vibrate as this might change the point in the air envelope that is sampled and thus change the pressure vs calibration. Hope this one makes sense. 2. Not sure if it sticks out far enough to keep ...

Glad you guys enjoyed the link!

As best I understand he used a product called dashware to add the power meter data to the video.

Re: Windows Phone
Hi jazxclrint,
If you can collect your gps track with some app on the phone, and further if you can export the file as tcx or one of the other importable formats...... then you can transfer that to the system that runs Isaac and import the file, all manual steps but it should work.

Hi entwistlejon,
Make sure:
1. change racer to yes in the setup
2. scroll to CdA and make it yes.
note you must scroll in the correct direction.
after setting racer to yes, hit the up arrow until you get to CdA

Re: Wind Calibration
My observation on this point is that Newton can be a bit finicky to get a good wind cal. For example, with very still air and careful slow movement of hand and fingers, breathing away from the unit, after cal and a redisplay of the cal function may or may not sit close to zero. So I always do a 'che...

Re: Facebook discussion of light vs heavy rims
Heck, I will throw in my 2 cents worth :-) My twist be after a couple of points will be trainer oriented but first. I have read that the sprinter and the person, in a race, wanting to bridge up or to get away might enjoy the most gain from having light rims as the rapid accelerations are most impede...

I can't remember their details and I have not the time now to re read them.
Hope this helps,

Re: High watt measurements
Seems really odd to second guess John but here goes :-) Since the data file uploaded to Isaac from Newton (remember ibr format is proprietary) has a standard format, I expect not too much different from the csv file but with more data. Perhaps it has more than one per second data points, but not lik...

Re: Wind Callibration
Hi JulianBoulter, You are welcome, far as it went :=) As to "is it possible to use this information in the calculation of Cda at all?" If you mean by 'this' as the windscaling values, I am sure the layman's answer is no and probably Velocomp can't either :-) So keep in mind that with the a...

Re: Wind Callibration
JulianBoulter, I can answer this one for John. The windscaling is needed because the pressure of air that the wind port 'sees' from where it is mounted on the bike is quite variable. You have probably seen a picture of something in a wind tunnel with smoke injected to show the air flow. The envelope...

Re: Cda Questions
JulianBoulter, I will give you one theory, perhaps Velocomp or others can give more. If your headwind was not EXACTLY head on, ie say 10 or 15 degrees or even more off to the side, then the wind actually sees a higher area. This condition is called yaw angle. Just look at your bike head on and from ...

Re: Wind Callibration
Hello JulianBoulter, The wind cal function sets or calibrates the wind sensor to zero (or near zero) during a no wind condition. A large temperature change may cause a drift in that calibration. It is not necessary for it to settle exactly on zero. You should also give it a little time to settle. I ...
