If any iBike triathletes out there going to be at any of the following races, we should try to link up:
White Lake (NC) Half Ironman (5/1)
White Lake Sprint Tri (5/2)
FL Ironman 70.3 (5/16)
IMWI (9/12)
Would love to meet and compare iBikes and iBike experiences.

Re: Using a powertap
I have a wireless iAero and an ANT+ compliant PT as well. Have been using them both for quite a while and not experienced your problem. 1. Do you have both wireless speed and cadence sensors set up properly? 2. Did you Scan for new sensors (ie PT)? I'm trying to think of what might be causing this. ...

Re: distance and file name incongruency
I have ridden a road race in pouring rain with my iBike using a RWS and had it work perfectly the entire race. What John mentioned about the RWS acting as a piston is way over my head, but I can tell you that it works. I also rode pre-RWS and did get the wind port clogged...much to my chagrin. iBike...

Re: ibike and Cross Winds
Coming in to this thread late but... I may not be as competitive a triathlete as the OP, but I've successfully used my iBike in races from sprint to Ironman since I first started using it a year ago. In regards to his TT effort, I have little to offer except to echo what another person posted and th...

iBike doesn't work in the draft
It CAN'T work in the draft...right? Check out the ride profile from my road race today. I'd say otherwise! Pavg for PT was 198.6W. Pavg for iAero was 196.5W. This was a RR where I was in the draft for most of the race (Travis or Boyd can probably spot the point where I had a brief chain issue and go...

I have used my Garmin HR strap many times underneath my wetsuit or tri top with no issues. As far as I know, the Garmin chest strap is the same one that comes with the iBike.

PAL Omnium Race Ride Files
Racing an Omnium (Stage) race here in Howey-in-the-Hills FL (yes there is such a place!). It was really hot this afternoon for the crit race. I don't do a lot of bike racing (mainly tris) so I'm in the Cat 5s. Still, we gave a respectable accounting for ourselves in the 30 minute race averaging arou...

Re: Using iAero w/DFPM to test aero position and equipment?
I use a DFPM in conjunction with my iAero as well. The key is to get a really solid calibration dialed in. Once you do that, you can see changes in CdA easily. I have not made any major position or equipment changes but I am planning on doing so soon. When I do, I am taking my bike, my laptop and my...

Re: Any triathletes using new Garmin Soft HR Strap?
No feedback yet on the FR 310XT strap, but since they say that old straps (like for the 305) will work with the 310, I don't see why the 310 strap wouldn't work with iBike as well.
It's all ANT+ compliant I believe.

Re: Changed stem angle - what calibration needs to change?
I'm using the RWS, so wind scaling won't change, right? All I need to do is reset the Tilt for the new stem? Hmm -- as I type, I am realizing my CdA will change in the slightly higher position and my weighting on the bike will probably change, too. So I need to re-do all everything, correct? Coast ...

Re: RWS -- keep it plugged in
Good solution! I've not had any issues with the RWS coming unplugged. I think one key is to not put too much torque on the plastic tubing. For a permanent installation, I'd bet that a drop of superglue will keep the RWS plugged in as well. You might try the following: Plug the RWS in but NOT the tub...

Re: New TT application for iBike
Question about the remote wind sensor, once it is mounted does it impeed removal of the iBike, or is it simple to disconnect from the front of the airport? The RWS is simply a piece of resin that plugs into the front of the iBike. It can be connected or disconnected at will. It is as easy as pluggi...

Re: TT bike race setup (kind of)
Where is your iBike mounted on your tt bike? Did you do coast downs to obtain crr and cda or did you use your PT? Before you used the remote wind sensor were you able to get accurate numbers? I have been able to get my PT and my iAero to read very close to one another on my road bike (stem mount) b...

TT bike race setup (kind of)
Attached is my ride file from the White Lake Half 70.3 triathlon on Saturday. I have an iAero on my TT bike (Cervelo P3C) and I'm using the Remote Wind Sensor (RWS). I hit the lap button at 14 miles, 28 miles, 42, 49 and 56 miles. I use a PT in conjuntion with my iAero and I always find it instructi...

Re: WATTS for triathlon
I was wondering about using the iBike during a triathlon event with specific reference to the pre-ride wind calibration of the unit as the bike sits in transition. So, I rack up my bike in the morning or for bigger events the day before, I do the wind offset and wake-up the wireless sensors in the ...

Re: A tale of two cal rides
Was this done in the hoods? If so, then it looks like the coastdowns gave you better number than using the DFPM. One thing I want to check, this was a power tap, correct? Did you make sure zero the torque before doing the out and back ride? If you power tap was reading a bit low then that is what w...

I haven't seen many triathletes on the forum here, so let me chime in to what Coach Boyd has to say. The new firmware for the iPro and iAero has some amazing features that will assist triathletes. Even if you are not doing a TT, from early test data, it appears that it improves the wind scaling factor of the iBike, thus improving your data accuracy.

Re: New TT application for iBike
That sounds like a great way to use this device. Even if it's not raining, I think the wind scoop helps give the iBike better data. The wind scaling factor was a lot better, feeding the iBike better data to create a more accurate profile, and of course, better ride data. Hopefully iBike will be able...

I use a DFPM to do my cal rides; saves time and is probably more accurate. However I've noticed some interesting data points: while setting up iBike in various configurations I keep getting some fairly differing numbers for Cda and Crr. Then, while riding, I'm able to observe actual Crr thanks to th...

Oops! Log file full
Forgot to dump my Log file before riding (it was pretty full). With 6 miles left to go in my ride, I get the msg on my iAero that the log is full. How does the IB handle this situation? Looking at my totals screen, the entire ride shows up, it's not saved in a log file. Is it possible to fix this so...
