Re: Did Cal-Ride but cannot send to device...

Thanks, Fern, you are correct. Confusion came from the fact that on all previous calibrations I've done coast downs so expected to see processing.

Cheers,

Did Cal-Ride but cannot send to device...

Just completed a cal-ride with no coast downs. Used Profiles->Download Cal Rides and the software downloads the ride ok, BUT in the processing box the options to calculate/accept the profile are greyed out (see attached image)...

s/w: 5.1.1

Help?!

Thanks,

Re: Software Request: temp compensation

I'd like to offer my own observations here: I've owned he iBike for over a year now and every time there is a significant change in outisde temperatures I am forced to do a new calibration. It seems to me that the unit is very (overly!) sensitive to temperature changes and as such, would like to ech...

Re: Same Distance, Different Terrain, Different w/kg

It's probably to do with the fact that on the flat you are fighting wind resistance; on hills you are fighting gravity. Higher cadence muscles on the flat; lower cadence muscles on the climb. Different physical requirements. Most training books note that hill climbing will elicit higher power output...

Re: iBike needs wind cal during ride?

Temperature picked up here again recently and I got a ride in with good wind data. Today, wind data borked again, yet temp is mildish. I *DID* change the battery prior to the ride. I updated the date and time and downloaded the profile before setting off. Could this be related to the problem??? With...

Re: iBike needs wind cal during ride?

Where am I looking for this? Read the manual... search the forums. Yeah, very helpful, thanks  One of the big problems with iBike, from a user perspective, is that all of these insights and nuggets are scattered about the place and only known by a few cognoscenti who choose to disseminate, or...

Re: iBike needs wind cal during ride?

John noticed this: "Your wind scaling factor is about 1.0 in your profile; based on your ride data it probably needs to be around 2.5. I believe your iBike is mounted on your handlebars; this WSF is consistent with this location." When he says this WSF he means the 2.5. Was your prior pro...

Re: iBike needs wind cal during ride?

And If my cal is wrong, it goes back to what I said above about user frustration relating to uncertainty with the iBike; there's no way to know if the cal is wrong or not... Actually, there are some simple ways to check your calibration. If the Wind Scaling is off, then you will see a significant n...

Re: iBike needs wind cal during ride?

John, You have previously commented that my calibration was fine...? And nothing has changed since then... This problem has occurred only on the last two rides where temperatures have dropped below 10 degrees. Nothing else has changed and all previous months rides gave generally consistent results. ...

Re: iBike needs wind cal during ride?

Same again today... entire ride shows a large tailwind even though that was not the case... (it was mainly calm but with some sections of strong head/crosswind towards the end) And first few minutes power was completely off (way too much power for effort by >100w). Analyse route removed the initial ...

Re: iBike needs wind cal during ride?

Temperature has plummeted here too and my last ride showed some very funky wind data... Device was left out to acclimatise prior to ride and is using a new battery, but wind was very wrong for this ride even though the day was essentially calm... I too am wondering about cold affecting the accuracy...

Any chance this functionality could be improved? Was out on a 5 hour ride today and at hour 3 I got the log full message. What would be really helpful...

A sticky file in the FAQ forum that contained anticipated, or at least reasonable (and also unreasonable!), numbers for CdA, Crr, Wind Scale, etc based on example rider height, weight, gear etc... That way, new users (ie me!) wouldn't need to trawl the forums looking for nuggets of information and w...

John, it should be in the joined section:

Again, make sure that you revert to original file to reveal collected data.

Re: First few days ride experience

The newer iBikes are a big improvement over previous models, and I can't think of a way they could improve it further unless... maybe... they incorporated even more sophisticated accelerometers that were able to filter the vibration. They used to sell a damping device that fit inside the stem, so m...

Re: First few days ride experience

Ok, today's ride took in some short cobbled sections and, as promised, I took the time to capture some data. Re: First few days ride experience

Something clearly going on in ibke software... Ironic thing is that it's on these rough and tough surfaces where monitoring effort is more important because it's more difficult to judge from feel what sort of effort you are putting out because you are also contending with bike handling issues... Re: First few days ride experience

Just to add to this, I lose power in exactly the same way if riding those sections of road the opposite direction, ie generally uphill... although infact I have to increase my power to maintain pace in that case... Next time I'm out over there or over the cobbled areas I have to ride I'll take some ...

Re: First few days ride experience

My cycling buddy, also an iBike user, sees the same issue over the same roads, so it's unlikely to be my bike, although he also uses a Garmin 705, so perhaps there's an issue there... Re: First few days ride experience

Another ride today that took in some poor surfaces (maybe this is a UK thing?!) and as soon as bike starts rattling over the surface power vanishes, even though I was clearly outputting watts, stomping on the pedals to get over the rough stuff. Also, noticed on cobbles the other day that the power v...

First few days ride experience

Hi guys, first post. Bunch o' questions! :D Been riding with the iBike Aero for a few days and am enjoying the power experience immensely, however one issue that is conspiring against me is a certain type of road surface... that being the very poor condition surface where much of the tarmac has worn...
