Re: New Photos of Rechargeable Wireless Mount

Can someone post some pictures (side view) of the new mount on a road bike? I'm curious how the new mount keeps the unit up out of the turbulent air coming from a cross wind compared to the current bar mount location I'm using.

Thanks,

Sean

Re: Problem(s) solved?

Increasing your Crr was probably not the right idea. The wind cal of -5 could easily account for the error. On climbs the tilt is the most important thing to get correct, but if the climb was short it could be off a bit. Was it a long climb? If you got good data on a flat road with a headwind or no...

I'm still having problems and would really like the insight this manual would provide. See here for details: http://www.ibikeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1954 Fern or any other Guru: I have parallel files showing the iPro data on one unit and PowerTap data recorded on my Garmin on another data...

Re: Problem(s) solved?

Ok, so my excitement was premature! Power seems to match a borrowed PT for the most part on flats and climbs, into wind or calm conditions. However, I was riding today and we had strong winds out of the NW and, when I was riding south, downhill, I was nothing but irritated: the PT was showing me rid...

You can add to that list of questions: what to adjust if your power seems fairly close (a little low) when riding at the front of a pack but reads about 1/2 to 2/3 the power reading of a DFPM when drafting in a pack...

Re: Problem(s) solved?

Time will tell. My friend loaned me his PowerTap wheel while he's out of town for the week and I was able to do a direct comparison between the two-they seem VERY close right now. The conditions were calm and I was only able to do a quick 12 mile route (solo) so I don't know how the wind, group ridi...

Problem(s) solved?

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I think this post (assuming I'm correct in what I'm witnessing) may be useful to other folks out there... I have had some difficulty since receiving my iBike (first iSport, then iPro) getting a good calibration / profile and I think I may have finally figured out why ...

Software Request: temp compensation

Can I put in a request for a software feature? I would like to see some way the software corrects for temperature changes throughout a ride. When I start out, I do a wind cal and get a 'near zero' reading (like tonight: ride start was about 49F). At the end of the ride, however, the temp has dropped...

Re: Announcing our new wireless rechargeable mount

Just wondering: with the new stem mount providing a consistent location from bike to bike / user to user, are you able to do anything in firmware to standardize the coefficients for those using the new mount, and thus further hone in on power accuracy? I can't quite put my finger on it, but it seems...

Re: ibike on e-motion rollers

Are you using trainer specific tyres or just slick road tyres on the e-motion rollers?. Nik I was riding Conti GP4000s tires. I don't plan to continue to ride those on my rollers as I don't wish to chew them up indoors. I'll probably put my nearly dead Conti Race tires back on and squeeze the last ...

Re: ibike on e-motion rollers

I'm back-sorry for taking so long to post the results. I have a set of e-motion rollers on order and I was wondering what sort of experiences people were having training with power (with the ibike) on them. Re: Positive Riding Tilt?

Are you on a TT bike? Depending on how much you're pulling on the bar ends you end up with very little tilt and could end up with the slightest positive tilt. It's unusual but it could happen. However, if you're on a typical road bike setup you definitely won't have positive tilt. That's so interes...

Positive Riding Tilt?

I went in for a professional fit tonight and had really good weather conditions to do another calibration ride. Re: Please Help: Calibration 'off'!

On the unit, you can bring up the average relative windspeed for your ride... this will give you an idea. The "analyze wind" screen is accessed in the software on your computer. Also remember to zero your wind offset before riding and check it often, because if that drifts it will screw up...

Re: Please Help: Calibration 'off'!

Thanks. Where am I looking on the 'analyze wind' screen for the wind to sum to approx zero? Also, is there any information to help me better understand what the 'analyze wind', 'analyze route', etc. functions do and how to interpret them? That would be most helpful.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, the file in post number 3 is an an example of what I'm saying regarding the 170 / 120 thing-right around the 4 min, 30 sec mark, and the 12 minute mark. Did a group ride tonight: 34 miles-something's 'off' with the calibration. There were times during the ride that I felt like I should have been holding 170W, while the unit read about 120W--just not right... Maybe it will be easier to get a 'thumbs up/thumbs down' if I list the params here as a reply, then the details supporting them can be evaluated in the files above? I should also mention that, over the course of the last two months, I've had patellar tendon knee pain / popping (due to riding the horribly hilly hundreds ride and kneeling too much, the later being what I'm really tracing the problem back to). Re: Low Power Readings on rough surfaces-please help

Ok, so I've now upgraded to the iPro and have a ride file attached. A few points about my current configuration: I've now been riding with my tire pressure set to 92 psi (front) and 97 psi (rear) and I mainly ride on the hoods. Up to the upgrade, I've used a crr = 0.0080 as suggested in this thread,...

Update: After many more miles...

Ok, so after a while of riding now, it seems that I have my calibration dialed in to be pretty consistent with minimal drops in wattage readings when hitting bumps (like the watts will still drop off, but for only 1 second or so, instead of 'hanging' down there for 3-4 seconds like it used to do). Re: Low Power Readings on rough surfaces-please help

OK, i dropped the tire pressure to 95 psi on both tires and used the 'other profile' (profile 2)-the one I *didn't* use last night to see if adjusting the estimated Fric up to about the same Cst (Fric) value as profile 1 would give me what I was looking for: the resistance to wattage dropoffs when h...
