Re: are CdA and Crr co-related?

I did coast downs etc, but always got weird results from the ibike software, so after playing and using it enough I was able to get it close to what my efforts were on my road bike. I used some online tools and such to compare ride files of 20 minutes or more, which enabled me to get my crr close fo...

Re: are CdA and Crr co-related?

crr should be more like 0.0100-0.0130 range for a mtb. I used it on my mtb for 3 years. Bigger/wider/heavier tires, lower tire pressures etc give you a higher crr than 0.008.

Re: A major improvement: OS2 for Newton

Its accessed through the Isaac software. If your unit is connected then it should detect it and prompt you that there is a new update available. If not you can manually update it by going to the "device" tab in Isaac and then select FW update. Also make sure to have the latest version of I...

Re: Wind Scaling difference in Newton and Isaac?

I was/am having the same issue, even with coast downs. I was getting a CDA of . 550+ for all of my coast downs. Was told I could not do them where I was doing them at. I was on a 1-1.5% incline which is where I have always done coastdowns before on my Gen3. Any more flatter I would have been going d...

Rubber seal

Is there any way to replace rubber seal on bottom of Newton (charging port). Mine was always really tight when I tried to put it on the mount, but today it tore off. Thanks

I had this happen once on my new Newton. Support had me do the hard reset and everything has been fine since. I thought my unit had died, but nope...all is fine.

Re: Tilt plot- getting strange slope in ride

Mountain bikers do not love the auto tilt. The 5 min required for it to self correct has already passed and is gone when you start your next climb or descent. It then has to keep recalculating but never catches up with itself. I noticed the same on the road while going through rolling hills, but I k...

Re: Get "SPCd Fail" message when loading new profile

I have my xc race bike crr set to .013. Stans Notubuse actaually test low tire pressures and found that lower pressures did not affect rolling resistance until you got under 18lbs I think. I run right at about 22lbs.

Re: Tilt questions

First of all I would like to apologize for keeping this thread going for so long. After 2 rides using a powertap I have found that on these easy rides the powertap and Newton are right on with each other for the short climbs I did. So my Newton is most likely doing that part right, I will know tomor...

Re: Tilt questions

Thanks for the offer, but I already borrowed a powertap and have started doing some rides to get comparisons. After my first ride it appears that I would need to raise my cda from .350 to .400 (that seems reaaly high) to get the proper watts on descents, but like I said I am still doing a variety of...

Re: Display suggestions

I tiried that as I mentioned earlier and it did not make a difference. It only happens whenn the sun hits the unit from behind/over left or right shoulder. I can still see my data but it takes a second to filter out the characters. Unfortunately this becomes a problem if I am climbing because I stay...

Re: Display suggestions

I can see my data, but I can also see the character mapping in the display when the sun hits it just right, so I see a bunch of 888888's. Like I said I can still see the data numbers its just really hard too.

Re: Differences in interval wattages

He simply meant that if your tilt is off in your profile that the first 5 min of data is messed up. After that the autotilt correction kicks in in the Newton and fixxes the tilt for the rest of the ride.

Re: Display suggestions

I am having an issue where if the sun is shining from behind my left or right shoulder it causes the display to show all of the characters in it, making it really hard to see the data that is actually being displayed. Changing the display contrast etc does not help. My Gen 3 never had this issue. Wh...

Re: Tilt questions

Tom asked me to do a simple 2 mile out and back just to check out all of the sensors and then e-mail it to him. He also mentioned that he/they think it is a firmware issue. Maybe someone can do a 20 minute steep climb (avg. 6.5-7%) that takes them about 3 miles or more, then compare elevation gains ...

Hi rruff, I checked my odometer and it is fine. I actually measured my wheel also to double check. I did my intervals tonight and for the first one I went 3.38 miles. I then verified my starting/stopping point on the web. using the various online tools, Google maps, Map My Ride, veloroutes, etc. My ...

Re: Differences in interval wattages

I am holding tight. Just a follow-up on things I have discoverd on my own. For this workout I posted, I took the first interval @ 3.45 miles in length and checked elevation gain. I then compared it to othe days where I did intervals in the exact same location using my Gen3 unit. On the ride I posted...

Re: Tilt questions

Thanks. Trying to find elevation for the start of the climb would be easy, but for the end of the climb will take some work. I understand that, but this ride was one continuous ride, so I am trying to figure out if there is something I can change in my profile to make my 2nd interval right, or do I have to wait for 5 min then do it. Tilt questions

I am wandering how changing the riding tilt in the profile will alter my ride data? I know the unit has an auto tilt correction, so does changing the tilt even matter? I ask this because I do a climb of about 20 min. and 3.45 miles and after downloading it to the software it gave me a slope of 5.99%...

Differences in interval wattages

I just did some 2x20 intervals and have a discrepancy between the 2. They were both started at the exact same place and no wind changes. My second interval came up with a higher avg. power than the first when clearly it was slower. I think it has to do with the auto tilt correction but was wandering...

Re: best practices for wind cal??

Never done Breathless Agony....sounds like it hurts just from the description, but I do go up as far as Onyx Summit and then back down. Anyways trying to get used to this unit. The numbers seem more consistant than my Gen3 was. Just takes some time to verify everythings is set right.
