Re: Ignorance is Bliss
Hmm...I have a Newton on my bike that was manufactured 10 years ago. No problems. I have 2 AP on the same bike that were manufactured 8 years ago...no problems. I have seen many ride files from customers whose units were manufactured in a comparable time period. No problems. I ride about 5,000 miles...

Re: New AeroPod 2.0 CdA app for ConnectIQ Garmin computers
oh, its ok ...no more support for the old app.... Is it possible for the NEW app to show only the SLOPE and WIND for the PPV5 as the "old app" did? thanks We will ask but this app was developed by someone outside of Velocomp. We are very happy about what it does but we have no control ove...

Re: New AeroPod 2.0 CdA app for ConnectIQ Garmin computers
Hi John, PPv5 i changed my edge to a new 1050 model. I cant show ONLY the Slope and Wind as i do in my edge830. The aeropod2.0 app has no option to NOT show the CDA as the old and reliable Oleskiy app. What can i do? That old app is not found by the edge1050 in the garminIQ. Is there the app file a...

Hi guys, just asking as i did not find this app in the garminIQ with my edge 1050. Is it possible to get the app file to download and then copy to my 1050? thank you in advance Use the AeroPod 2.0 app, available here: https://apps.garmin.com/apps/41ca192f-2 ... 496e?tid=1 The original AeroPod app i...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
I don't find big fun in this thread anymore, either, but cannot resist to warn you to the miscalculation: if an out and back course is 3KM total (the short end of what we recommend), at 30 km/h that is about a 3600 second test time. 3/30*3600=360s. One example: You work for 8 hours a day, in the fi...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
Although we don't agree on the topic but I also truly respect that we can discuss it so openly here on the forum! 1) Short reaction to your arguments: My problem with the turnaround is that I cannot guarantee that I can reproduce them in the same way. In my opinion biggest problem is the timing: If...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
Out of respect for the sincerity of your postings and your obvious desire to make your points clear, I will try, one more time, to do the same. First, let me state that I understand your concern about "turnaround" errors. There is no doubt but that CdA measurements can change whenever ridi...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
No, I am asking to do the thing in profile 4. But then you always repeat profile 4 needs a Garmin and marking laps. That means the AP will again do some calculation based on the entire lap with braking and turning making the data unusable for measuring CdA differences between two helmets on a short...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
I really appreciate your quick answers! I totally agree with your sentences but I still have the feeling you could not precisely measure the delta CdA between my position A and B, because the braking and turning phase will severely influence the average. Anyway, we are speaking about measuring the ...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
Yes, I expect only a very minor change in CdA during the 1km leg, where position, power, conditions, etc are all constant. Let's say between 0.2 and 0.205 for example with 3s moving average, but of course the longer the leg, the better it is for calculating an average. However, when I calculate the...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
I have just checked the testing process of a competitor, they use exactly the method I proposed: The Aero Test is recorded on an out-and-back ride, and it is essential to stop recording the test where you began it. Our algorithm will automatically remove the acceleration from the start, the u-turn,...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
With respect, I think the problem is that the data is not being interpreted correctly. The whole purpose of the out/back test is to provide enough data to average out second-to-second changes as the route progresses. You seemingly are expecting the data to be exactly the same, with no CdA change dur...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
Thanks for the quick response! Your statement surprises me quite a bit, especially because for the turn around the rider hast to change position on a TT bike to be able to brake. I will test the effect of turn arounds to see it myself. Regarding the CTRL+left click lap selection in VA, could you ma...

Re: Differences between Aeropod Profile 3 and 4
Thanks for the info! Could you tell me if I use Profile 4 without adding laps on a Garmin, then the results will be garbage or better or worse than with Profile 3? I would analyze the data with VA after the ride. Profile 4 data will be worse. Profile 4 requires lap markers during the ride at the en...

Good day, John. Well, still not working. And went down the complete list of checks, as suggested by AI (ChatGpt). only one item left, un-install and re-install (that was a bite of a challenge the first time). Maybe I"ll save that for a rainy day. But, I have discovered , I can get the gps data...

Re: New method for evaluating out-and-back data
Our experience is that the "turn around" portions of test loops does not materially alter the overall CdA measurement. Furthermore, as long as the test loops are consistent, any (minor) offset error introduced by turn arounds will be the same for the various measurements, so it has no real...

Re: Differences between Aeropod Profile 3 and 4
Profile 4 has access to raw, FW based data from out-back loops that is not available in profile 3, so profile 4 data can be adjusted more accurately.
How we process CdA data, both in FW and in VA, is proprietary so I am not in a position to provide more details.

I'm not sure how you are using these profiles (that is, whether you are doing training in profile 3 or testing in profile 4). Once you have both profiles stored in VA you can do the following : 1) Connect your unit to VA 2) Use Edit/Edit profiles to select the profile number you want to use in today...

John, Thanks for taking the time to reply! I realize that you no longer support Issac. What I was hoping for is that someone like Mark might have some advice on how to structure another workaround. This is because, unless I’m mistaken, Velocomp Aero does not support ancient Newtons like mine. Is th...
