Re: Newton+6 cannot connect to PC

If your Newton worked before with your computer, and your cables are good, then something has changed on your computer--perhaps you installed a new device, such as Garmin? You can try installing the latest version of Isaac (version 5.01), which is available from our website https://velocomp.com/isaa...

He has not responded. I will try to speak with him this evening.

We have not had this problem with any other Isaac Windows installs.

Re: Low CdA values ?

The calibration adjustment is done in the bike computer head. That is, the raw data transmitted by SRM can be "off", but after a calibration is done, an internal correction factor is applied inside the bike computer head to correct it. This is different from EVERY other power meter. In other power m...

Yes, profiles 1-3 continuously check calibration during the ride, same as before.

If wind conditions aren't too horrible, you can give it a try!

You will need to do a new calibration ride, of course.

Does the equation AeroPod uses to covert air pressure to wind speed have air density in it?
If it does, how is the air density value determined?
Yes. We get air density from barometric pressure sensor measurements.

The equation we use to convert air pressure to wind speed does not make an assumption about humidity.

Re: Air density estimates

We don't have a humidity sensor. I don't recall anywhere in our calculations where we make an assumption about humidity. Remember that, because we measure air pressure, not wind speed, we don't have to know the air density for power/CdA calculations. Wind speed is derived from air pressure, so there...

Re: What is displayed in the Wind Speed field of the exported CSV files?

I'm not a sailor (obviously), and as a non-sailor, I find the terms "apparent wind" and "true wind" to be quite confusing, too... :D Going forward we will use the Isaac software terms, which are very descriptive: Isaac " wind speed relative to the bike " = total wind speed 'felt' by cyclist, while r...

Re: Low CdA values ?

SRM is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from other power meters. All other power meters calibrate inside the sensor. SRM calibrates inside the receiving device--in this case AeroPod. I agree your CdA numbers are too low. This is because the SRM calibration in AeroPod is wrong. It's critical to follow the SRM ca...

Re: AeroPod/PowerPod Status Light Table

I think it would be good to add this status light table document to the "comprehensive instructions for AeroPod" post. Also, will this be unchanged with firmware update 7.06 or is there a status light indication for the new 5 min calibration period at start of ride when using profile 4? 1. Done! 2....

Re: What is displayed in the Wind Speed field of the exported CSV files?

It is the absolute wind speed.

So, if you're riding at 20 mph and there is no ground wind, the csv file will show a wind speed of 20 mph.

Re: Wild power numbers

Welcome to the world of power training! Power is a much more sensitive metric than heart rate or speed. The smallest variation in speed, hill slope, or wind will cause variation in power. Looking at your ride file, the first thing to note is that your calibration is good. So, you're off to a good st...

Re: check calibration ride results

All weather is local... :-) The ride file shows strong headwinds, tail winds, and cross winds. The weather data shows strong winds. The elevation profile suggests an out and back route, so average wind speed should be about the same as average bike speed, which it is. I think you're OK with this ride.

Re: What is actually stored in the HR channel of profile 4?

Another thing you can do is to touch the lap marker on your Garmin/Raptor at the end of each test. You will see, for about 10 seconds, the average CdA from the previous lap; then, CdA will go live again, at the current value, not the averaged value from the past 90 seconds.

Re: What is actually stored in the HR channel of profile 4?

If you're changing positions then yes, for the first 90 seconds after the change the CdA is "blended" from your prior test. I would look at the CdA after 90 seconds. The same principle applies if you've made a sharp turn. Note that, if the test is long enough, these kind of short term effects blend ...

Re: Why does profile say "unsaved" in Isaac?

This is a quirk of Isaac; if you saved profiles elsewhere, there is a "disconnect" when you use the Set Active Profile menu item. You can use Edit/Edit Profiles to see if your previous profiles have been saved. Furthermore, all of your ride files already include your profiles; you can use the Edit P...

Re: Puzzling results

It looks to me like you did your first road bike test at around 730AM. Then, you moved AP to your TT bike and did testing at 811 AM; then, you moved AP back to your road bike at 911AM for a second set of road bike tests. Each time you did a new DFPM calibration and AP calibration. Is this correct? I...
