Re: Powerpod V3 causing drops in estimated cadence

ALERT: We continue to see this problem with some ride files, and we have confirmed that a Garmin 2 cadence sensor, when paired to PowerPod/AeroPod, does not always provide correct cadence information.

So, this appears to be a bug in our firmware.

We are working on a fix now...

Re: power stroke interpretation

Your ride file reflects a bug in the cadence signal we are investigating. Your ride file has been helpful in confirming a suspicion we've had regarding a bug with the interaction between the Garmin 2 cadence sensor and our firmware. It appears we have a bug in our firmware. Once we get the FW fixed...

What kind of cadence sensor are you using (brand and model)?

What kind of bike computer?

Your calibration and power look fine, but you have a problem with cadence.

Are you using a Garmin cadence sensor? Are you using a Garmin bike computer? If so, what model?

I don't understand where the problem is. Is your PP not recording power data? Do you have a .ibr ride file?

Is power displayed on your Garmin?

Re: Powerpod V3 causing drops in estimated cadence

FWIW i have the garmin cadence 2 crank sensor and noticed the same thing when it was paired to my PP. i paired it directly to my edge 1030 and same issue. I’m fairly sure its something to do with the garmin sensor as i had no such issue with my £10 basic magnet sensor. Switched to a supposed upgrad...

Put the speed sensor on your front hub. This is where the instructions say it needs to be located.

Another ride today. I was hoping the PP V3 would record the ride without pairing to the Lezyne computer but when I connected the PP to Isaac no data downloaded.

Is this even possible?
This issue has nothing to do with your Lezyne. Please email technicalsupport@velocomp.com for next steps.

Re: Power Reading High

The first 5 minutes of your ride PP was recalibrating itself. It was off pretty far so it can take longer than 5 minutes to fully self correct.

You accelerated from 19 to 24 mph in a time of 9 seconds. That takes power.

I don't see anything wrong.

Re: Question about data from my ride

OK, sorry, I see now that you were operating in profile 3. You had quite stable readings until KM4, where there is a bunch of very low speed, low power squiggling. When you resumed normal cycling at KM 8 your tilt offset was way out of calibration. It took 4KM, about 7 minutes, for things to stabili...

Re: Question about data from my ride

You are using AeroPod in profile 4 (I can tell from the pattern of your CdA/HR signal). For CdA to work properly in profile 4, the instructions require that the test route be a closed loop, or an out-and-back ride. From your elevation profile, it's evident that you are not following the instructions...

Re: Merge GPS in Isaac: PowerPod V3 and Garmin Edge 1030 Plus

Your activity file was in .fit form.

To merge in Isaac, you need to export it as a .tcx or .gpx file, then do the File Merge

I did this with your file and it worked!

If you're using a Garmin bike computer (and it sounds like you are) then you can load our free AeroPod CdA app into it. https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/f5420d3a-a9b7-4ef8-ae4d-463f3504b1e2 The AeroPod CdA app, when used with PowerPod, will provide power, slope, and wind speed data to Garmin Conne...

This ride file shows an overall headwind, despite the fact you're riding on a closed circuit.

I used the Check Calibration feature to correct this.

Corrected ride file and profile are attached.

The raised saddle shows less side-to-side movement, and a more symmetrical powerstroke. The raised saddle is better.

That said, there isn't a huge change, so I would pick whichever is more comfortable.

Re: Powerpod V3 causing drops in estimated cadence

If I understand your post correctly, you are saying that your Garmin ALSO is recording intermittent cadence data. That would suggest that the problem is in your cadence sensor. When my PowerPod isn't connected to my cadence sensor, my Edge shows and records a consistent cadence. When my PowerPod *i...

(Sorry about the delayed response: Gmail insists on routing spam@velocomp to, well, spam) 4. So, your Garmin is reading the intermittent ...

Re: Ride Check Please

I don't see any obvious problems in your ride file. When you go into a tuck your CdA goes down, and you go faster. However, in PP watts calculations, CdA remains at the (fixed) higher number; so, it interprets your higher speed as a result of more power on the pedals. That is why your watts go up. M...

Your ride file shows an average bike speed of 9 mph. Also, there is a lot of zero cadence (not pedaling). Both of these things will keep watts low. Re: ride check please

I think the ride is OK. There is one short section, near the 36 mile mark, where you are not drafting. In that section your wind speed looks like it is properly calibrated.

Since you're drafting, strong headwinds are being fought by the cyclists riding ahead of you.
