Re: PP V3 - frst calibration

I looked at your ride file: 1) your unit seems to be well-calibrated. Wind speed and slope readings are completely normal 2) You have this set up as a TT bike. Is this correct? 3) I used this website to check your readings. http://www.aerocoach.com.au/power-from-speed/ The site calculates exactly th...

Yes, the calibration ride is now shorter. It should take only about 5 minutes total, depending on how fast you ride your bike.

Thx, how about the friction between the tires and road surface? Guess the numbers varies if the surface is wet?
This difference is even smaller. You'll get only about a 1% change going from normal to super-slick tires.

Re: FINAL NOTICE: Mac OS Catalina: Isaac/Mac won't work!!!

I'm one of the ones who is locked out. While I appreciate the thumb drive workaround, it isn't for me a substitute for software that works on Catalina. I don't often check the boards here, but definitely did when I upgraded and discovered that Isaac didn't work anymore. I've tried the iOS app, but ...

I don't see a lot of wind obstruction in your ride file, so at this point I don't think you need to move anything.

Re: Power transmission

Tests conducted by bike manufacturers through the years suggest a loss of about 2%. So, if you're pushing 500W at the pedals, the drivetrain/frame loss would be about 10W.

PP uses the 2% loss in its calculations.

Re: FINAL NOTICE: Mac OS Catalina: Isaac/Mac won't work!!!

Thanks for your post; it is very thoughtful and expresses clearly many of the motivations pushing Apple to the 64 bit world. We have always been big supporters of the Mac; in fact, we were the first power meter company to make a Mac-compatible version of software (in 2005). Velocomp customers who ar...

Re: Powerpod v3 - 4000 watts on cal ride

Your CdA is low for a mountain bike; I have adjusted your profile. Other than that your calibration is fine!

You will get more consistent results on uphills if you lock-out your fork during your climbs.

Re: Newton +6 : Battery life

It sounds like you are thinking about buying a used Newton 6+ from someone who has not used his unit for a year. If the used Newton has not been charged for a year, it is entirely possible that the battery is not functioning properly, or has limited storage ability. If you buy this used Newton I wou...

If I have a choice of routes to perform an out and back calibration ride, what would the Ideal route/ride be? I appreciate that the choice may not be available for everyone. Thank you very much John for the quick and complete answer. It seems that I was wrong to load the third file, in fact it had to be a ride of 21 km, not 1 km ... I try to reload it. Sorry for the mistake, whitout that ride I guess you could not understand much of what I wrote.. I did a hard reset be...

Re: Powerpod v3 - 4000 watts on cal ride

1) It looks like you are press-holding the button for over 12 seconds. This causes a hard reset of the device, which resets the internal clock. 2) the cal ride watts have no meaning; don't worry about them (that's why its called a cal ride) 3) your short ride files are meaningless, unfortunately. Th...

Re: PP V3 - frst calibration

I looked at your ride file...calibration looks fine, and your watts when speed is high (38km/h) look fine, too. I think what may be happening is that you have your Device Power Smoothing set to 0 sec. This basically means that you are seeing completely raw numbers from PP. So, if there is even ONE i...

John, maybe iam a dumb.... can not use the map. I was trying and trying with no result. Thanks In Isaac you can't zoom in on the map. However, when you highlight a section of your ride file, you'll see that section highlighted in the map. If you're running Isaac/Mac, you can export the ride file to...

Re: Setting up with a dumb spin bike

Here is what I would do: 1) Post a ride file from your outdoor riding that shows PP HR readings and power readings. 2) You'll need to get ANT+ speed readings from your indoor trainer. How do you plan to do this? 3) Once you have speed sensor readings, do an indoor ride with PP set to trainer mode an...

I'm not sure which instructions you are using, but the current version of instructions says the out portion of the ride lasts only about 2-3 minutes. You have a unit with the latest FW, so you should be getting a short cal ride. Your 11/3 ride file looks OK, but your ride file of 11/6 shows very hig...

1) No

2) You can't. Your unit does not support CdA measurement

3) What app?

4) What is your DFPM reporting? Export your FIT file in .tcx or .gpx format to merge with Isaac ride file.

since i dont have the PP GPS version/tracking i should be extracting the garmin file, convert it and then use the "merge file" in isaac?

thank you
You can export your Garmin file in .tcx or .gpx format, then merge GPS information into your Isaac file.
