Re: Newton problems with power

Thanks. The mount is firmly attached to the handlebar. I didn’t change the position of the Newton in both rides. Shouldn’t be the same error in the slope? Or you think the Newton is moving by itself? Something is rotating... Do you remove Newton from your bike to download rides? You can try a new c...

Re: Newton problems with power

What's happening is that the angle your Newton is mounted to the bike is changing. It takes 5 minutes for Newton to auto-recalibrate; until calibrated your Newton can show high (or low) watts. In your 1/17 ride file the slope is +13% for the first few minutes, until recalibration is made. During thi...

Re: Download Isaac for Mac version 5.1, works with Catalina!

OK - I thought I might be a success story, but not so much. Did fine with NI-488.2 and NI-VISA_Runtime and LabVIEW2019SP1RuntimeEngine but when I got to SiLabsUSBDriverDisk, even though I did the "allow" thing in the security preferences, I still got this message: "Driver may need approval. You will need to follow the Isaac/Mac instructions process completely. What is happening is that you are running into a System Extension Blocked issue on Mojave.

Isaac 5.1 also runs on Mojave, but you have to follow the installation process.

Re: new to aeropod

There are several things going on that need to be addressed: 1) Make sure your AP is set to profile 4, where CdA data will be recorded 2) Your calibration is way-off. Do a new calibration ride, then a ride file, which you can post here. Also, please post images of your AP mounted on your handlebars ...

Re: Inconsistent distance measurement between PP and Garmin

Thanks John, this morning before going out I checked the fork pressure .... it was very low, even when blocked it went down by 2 or 3 cm..I believe that the reason for the readings was too high was that. After restoring the pressure in the fork, everything is back to normal and the values are now c...

On the 530. Given up on connecting the watch via usb with this firmware. I thought of a problem with my plan of testing it by putting in front of a fan though: the cal ride. I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish. If it is simply seeing if your ConnectIQ app is working, then leave AP set to...

Re: Inconsistent distance measurement between PP and Garmin

Your PP was bumped at the 35 minute mark. It took a few minutes for it to automatically recalibrate itself.

If you delete this section of the ride the rest of it is fine.

Re: Inconsistent distance measurement between PP and Garmin

Sorry for the slow reply; your post was somehow not flagged for me. You've got some really low speeds on your route, due no-doubt to the steep slopes you're climbing. When you are going slow enough, such that your wheel revolutions are less than one wheel rev per second (around 4 mph) your unit will...

I did an experiment last night before your reply & I think you guess right. I created a new profile called TT on it and followed your instructions. It seems to have worked, but unfortunately I can’t test it as my one bike with a DFPM has no brakes currently. I removed them to hide them from the swe...

Sod. The watch is flakey over USB. Do you think it can be installed on an Edge 530? It’s very similar to a 520 and always appears via USB.
I'm guessing that it will work on the 530.

Re: AeroPod CdA Connect IQ app for Garmin

Installing the ConnectIQ app requires that your Garmin device appears as a USB drive.

I know this works for traditional Garmin bike computers but I don't know about the watch, and how it connects to the computer.

Re: Polar Devices (Vantage M specifically)

PP broadcasts its power data in an industry-standard BLE format. That PP works with your Samsung 10 and Wahoo app supports this assertion (signals would have to be correctly processed both by the Samsung 10 and the Wahoo app). Separately, we've personally tested PP with the Polar v650, and it works ...

Re: Changing or Transferring PP to other Bikes

I assume you are changing bikes, not wheel sets... When you move to a different bike, which has mounted on it a different speed sensor, simply spin the wheel (to wake up your speed sensor), then wake up PP. It will take only a few seconds for PP to switch profiles. After you start riding on your "sw...

Re: Calibration effect

At the beginning of a new ride, it's entirely possible that the angle of the device has changed, particularly if the device was removed between r...

Re: Changing or Transferring PP to other Bikes

There is a misunderstanding here. Let me clarify things: 1) You set up each bike, including sensor pairing and calibration ride, ONE TIME per bike. You will save each bike's information in a separate profile. For example, if you have 3 bikes then you will have 3 profiles 2) Assuming that each bike h...

Re: CDa estimate

Part of my confusion is the number you are using. A CdA of 0.032 is "low" by a factor of 10x. That is, CdA for most cyclists should be in a range of 0.2 to 0.4... We estimate CdA based on height, weight, and ride position. The accuracy of our tables have been proven out over thousands of ride files ...

Re: Changing or Transferring PP to other Bikes

I know that you have to re-calibrate the PP again if you change to another bike. My question is when you are in calibration mode, what will happen if I don't stop & turn at the 50 watts mark? Will my readings be inaccurate? Also, can I do the calibration mode in the trainer or bike stand and just s...
