Re: Appending files

I found a trick that makes appending the files pretty easy. Open up the first of the split files, then select to append the file. Now select the second of the split files, hold your shift key, and select the last of the split files. Click yes to force the elevation to join smoothly and voila it will...

Using the iBike for pacing

Well, it's winter time. . .the perfect time for some long intervals just below threshold. This training, also referred to as "sweet spot" training is a great way to raise your threshold and optimize your training when there's not enough daylight for longer rides. I have been doing a lot of...

Re: iBike Dash Steer Tube Mount Incompatibility

This should be an easy one. You need a compression plug where you have a screw that will go down into the middle of it (so you can use the one supplied from the iDash).

This one should work just fine and is a good inexpensive solution.

Re: Whacked out iAero mileage and speed

It looks like there was a lot of starts and stops in this ride, maybe riding down streets with stop signs or lights. Something nearby could have given off interference that cause the big speed blip. I'm not sure what triggers it exactly though. It looks like it happened when you started from a stop ...

my weight is between 130-135lbs, height 5'9", on the FTP it says not to add any additional weight to my own weight? can you explain why we dont? thanks For FTP purposes we are not asking the weight to calculate power. We are using the weight to establish your w/kg. Since w/kg is your actual bo...

Re: iBike needs wind cal during ride?

A quick question. With the wind scaling that has changed with temperature, was the unit mounted on the handlebars (if so I am assuming off to one side or the other)? In the summer I am guessing you had either no gloves or short finger gloves on, now that it's getting colder you are probably going to...

Re: Fric numbers compared to CRR

Yes, the friction number is very important. What may have happened is that your riding tilt is off and this will effect the friction. Your crr won't have changed by changing the mount, so keep the crr what is what before. Then check your riding tilt (I usually just put mine to -.3). This will change...

Re: training for climbs

Morocco nailed it. The better you're watts/kg ratio, the better you will climb. To achieve this you can either keep the same power and lower your weight, or increase your sustained power and keep the same weight (doing both is optimal). One of the best ways to increase your sustainable power (FTP po...

Re: setting rider height

The only place that you'll need to enter height is in the Fast Start screen. This is used for purposes of calculating your estimated aero. An easier way to get going would be to hook the ibike up to your computer and resend that particular profile to the iBike. If you are using an iSport and it's as...

Re: iBike needs wind cal during ride?

Keep in mind that the number being shown on the wind offset screen is not mph of wind but a reading in pascals. I can't remember the exact formula, but showing a wind offset of -2 isn't going to majorly influence your watts. One thing that may also be happening is that going into the sunlight as you...

The ibcd4m file is the file that occurs when you do the cal ride and coast downs (IBike Coast Down 4 Mile). This file has all the information for all your coast downs and your out and back ride. The ibp (IBike Profile) is the file that occurs when you accept a profile. This has your aero and frictio...

If you go into documents-iBike rides and just copy all the files from there onto a flash drive or CD. Then you can just paste them into the same directory on the new computer.

Re: zero power reading

Yeah, you'll definitely want to do the cal ride on a calm day. The cal ride is going to assign a wind scaling number. Wind scaling is basically telling the computer how much wind is entering the wind port when you are riding. This differs from unit to unit which is why this measurement is necessary....

Can you post a ride file from a solo ride on a calm day? If you did the coastdowns on a smooth road, but used the fixed crr of .0055 then it will make your aero numbers too low. he fixed crr has solved some issued, but created others. Honestly, the best and easiest way to get a good accurate profile...

After seeing the mount at Interbike. . it's a definite winner. It's very small (barely bigger than the rechargeable battery) and the iBike Gen 3 (or 2 or 1) fits on perfectly. I think this will be the exact solution for everybody who had problems with battery issues in the winter. I didn't get a goo...

I think due to space concerns some of the pre-programmed intervals had to be removed for a bit until we can figure out how to rework them. Re: 0 Power reading for first 5 minutes of ride then it started

All you have to do is a tilt calibration at the start of your ride. I usually do one of these about every couple of weeks or so. The tilt correction that is built into the Gen 3 units takes 5 minutes to kick in so that explains why you were seeing 0 watts and then all of a sudden having it show up.

Re: Help - Bad File

Try hard restarting your iBike.

Take out the battery and then put it in the iBike backwards for a couple seconds. Put it back in normally and this should clear up your problems. You'll also want to erase all ride data to clear out the bad ride file.

Re: How do I check if my profile is correct?

To check the wind scaling is now pretty easy. At any time in your ride if you ride an out and back section the iBike software will recognize it. If the before and after watts are really different based on this out and back, then you may want to check your wind scaling. Doing a new cal ride (slightly...

Re: Interval Training 2x20, User Mode

I would leave your profile right where it is based on those pictures. You're in an aero position, but with the bars that wide, the cda will be higher (and you'll be more comfortable) than if you had a super narrow aggressive position. I think that with that position your data looks just fine and now...

Re: Can you relate % of HRM to % of ftp?

I would look more at the zones and try to work within the zones as opposed to just saying 95% of FTP = 95% of threshold HR. So if he is prescribing you a workout where you are holding 95% of threshold heart rate, take a look at which zone that will put you in. In this example it would be sub thresho...

Re: Interval Training 2x20, User Mode

Landim, Here is what I think happened. You have a long out and back ride where something happened to your wind data. Either the wind picked up during the ride, or your wind offset drifted. When you analyzed the ride automatically, it "corrected" the wind data for the out and back and assig...
