Hello blp, See anything wrong with this? CdA: 0.344 m^2; Crr: -0.0195 This is the CdA, Crr from your "suspect file". As far as I know there is no such thing as a negative Crr (yet) but future tech? :D I arbitrarily set your Crr to .004 and things looked more normal, go to your old profile ...
Bruno, I upgraded my newton to the Newton 6 (it is a body upgrade for a Newton 5 - if you have that). Otherwise the best technical solution for older Newtons is the 'remote wind sensor' which is a hose with collection horn and a back end plug to fit the wind port. This will block rain from being abl...
Hi moneyrider, I usually only ride with one or two other guys and so not a long paceline but the numbers look reasonable to me. In particular look at the times the 'ground wind' goes near zero. If you were pulling at the head of the line at those times then bingo. The appearance of negative ground w...
Brookside posted spreadsheet link above from google's collection. I am not well convinced that these final CRR values are really usable except to identify a somewhat faster tire for purchase. The 'raw' CRR value, then temperature compensated are derives from power meter measurements on a trainer. No...
Hello WarrenJSmith! If you hold the top side button for several seconds it will put you into setup. Scroll until you find trainer (on/off). If you are displaying wind speed instead of bike speed and you touch the top button briefly, it will put you into wind cal. If you happen to do your whole ride ...
I have been especially well impressed of the improved wind condition performance! I have no complaints left about it.
I have not personally tested the heavy rain improvements but trust the other reports of that.
Now that I have had a few rides with this Tacx Bushido using the Newton6 in trainer mode with a profile developed from EHB's posted test data, I have new observation to post! It seems that the NP, IF, TSS that the Newton displays at the end of the ride is based on the ANT+ power in from the Bushido....
I just forwarded the flywheel picture via email.
I also will now send another email with more on my ideas
since they may simply weigh this thread down for now.
Post what ever my help, of course!
Hi EHB, Yes the flywheel is quite small, I will try to attach my jpg so you can see it. Also, I had run 105psi with my Conti Gator's when I did the cal and test ride with no app control and your trainer tested coefficients (after loading file into Isaac of course) and my cal result was about 25% fro...
Hello EHB, I used your measurement ride to setup my Newton trainer profile and rode yesterday. In the compare power function, the Newton tracked just below the Tacx reported power. For some reason Libra Calc refused to start (a reboot later fixed that) so I imported the CSV unmodified into Goldenche...
Hello EHB, Regarding your flywheel question, from the forum it was not clear what units had and did not have the flywheel. I had gained the impression that it was in old non-smart units but then removed but perhaps they added it back in. Well, after I inquired about my replacement part suitability (...
EHB, I rode today, first a 'warmup ride' two times over total 21+ minutes, totally flat course. At about seven minutes in, the two power graphs in compare power meter function came together with my high CRR and CdA tweeks. My second ride immediately after was Montigo Bay in Jamaca, it had a few smal...
iBike_01_13_2016_1905_18_km_Tacx.csv iBike_01_13_2016_1948_9_km_Tacx.ibr EHB, I appreciate the feedback/experience data! And I finally got my part and my Bushido is now functional. My two back to back test rides, after installation the part which came with 3.1.13 firmware (latest) was interesting. ...
Thanks Pete, That makes sense. I am not a spread sheet wonk, only basic skills, but it would be great if someone with one of these trainers wrote a conversion sheet that would get the time sequenced speed, cadence, power and build one suitable. I am thinking in the process set the wind to zero (assu...
Pete, "Why can't you just pair your smart trainer to the iBike as if it were a DFPM and not be in trainer mode?" This is one of my questions, I see Newton+ will, with "ON/OFF DFP(M) DISP" setting display DPFM power in. I also see from those Newton+ instructions that Newt will rec...
Hello again EHB, Sounds great, John did not say in this thread but before, he has said that if you develop the profile for a trainer with your dpfm, send to Velocomp and they will usually add it to their distributed list! In any case, I would add it to mine if you so kindly provide the data! If so, ...
Hello EHB! Thanks for all the info, you do answer some of my questions which I pose in relative ignorance have a broken Bushido :? I knew the Bushido should send out power as ant+ and possibly cadence but I had not heard mention of speed, so sounds that the iBike could simply pair to the Bushido and...
I thought I would throw some feedback onto the forum for how my upgraded Newton 6, which was a Newton+ is performing. I try to avoid riding in the rain when possible so I can't evaluate the rain performance but that was stress tested and reported by others - IE no problem there. The biggest problem ...
Ok, my brain damage does cause problems :-) I will try another rewording approach... I have purchases a Tacx Bushido Smart trainer which uses ANT+-FEC protocol via ANT+ and BLE. The ANT+, as I understand it, sends power data out in standard power ANT+ format, like a DPFM. I like collecting my traine...
Feature request for the new smart trainers with ANT+-FEC protocol. In thinking about it, these new trainers such as my new Tacx Bushido Smart trainer transmit power data in ANT+ format. Seems it would be easy to add a trainer selection based on current outside ride capabilities, to collect rear whee...
RE John's answer #2, I think the bit is flipped (happens to me a lot) while drafting you should see the tail wind. While pulling you should see the current actual wind more closely (based on my Newton experience, I have no powerpod). EDITOR'S NOTE: FOLLOWING RUSS' REPLY, THE ORIGINAL POST WAS EDITED...
I have now ridden two real rides with my Newton+ now Newton 6. What I did for the profile first were two short O&B rides. The first to establish the tilt correction and after the second, I used Isaac to correct my wind factor. First of my two 'real' rides I ran Isaac again for the correction and...
This is true for the CdA display functionality. I am referring to future adaptive CdA algorithms that I can envision being developed. Just dreaming the future
Sorry, most of your questions are out of my realm, ie software functions are Velocomp's job.
We frequently suggest changes and occasionally John includes them in releases.
Perhaps automatic elevation checks could be added to the gps related functionality....
brookside, Actually this has been discussed in the forum if you search a bit... Anyhow, gist is analyze route (without using the check cal) will, if you start and end at the same spot or elevation, or if you care to specify the beginning and end elevations if known.... will adjust the entire elevati...
EHB spoke of High frequency noise. I have thought of this myself as something the iBike firmware could use to distinguish the surface roughness and adjust Crr on the fly somewhat. Even if it was a bit of a swag using 'typical' offsets it would improve accuracy. If iBike is using any signal processin...
Hi Hosedeya, I will take a crack at this. The old iBike, before auto correction, relied on the tilt being zeroed with no weight on the bike and the cal ride then established an offset from that with you on it. The zero is still a prereq for a cal ride. The auto correct, compensates both for your wei...
Hi Thooey, I will take a crack at your concern. The calibration ride sets two things, the tilt offset with you on the bike in your normal position and the air pressure sensor offset for it's position in the airstream around you and the bike. The airstream position affects the pressure that the iBike...
Pete and Fernando, My recollection and recent experience is that the auto correction of tilt is every ride. And is effective five minutes into the first ride. I replaced my speed/cadence sensor recently which I wanted to save in my profile. So saving and sending it back to the iBike caused the tilt ...
