Re: Salvage Ride File?

Thank you.

As I ride gravel 98% of the time, will this configuration on smooth asphalt work for my typical riding surface?

Re: Salvage Ride File?

Hi John, Hope you had an excellent weekend. Something came to mind about the race. There was a race placard attached to the handlebars and right behind the PP. I did a reset and then a 4-mile out and back ride on smooth asphalt, with gusty wind. After the out and back, I rode a long ride. I have att...

Re: Salvage Ride File?

Hi John,

For some of it, yes. This may not help, but for the last 10 miles I rode with no one else.

Thank you

Salvage Ride File?

Hi John, Rode a race on gravel on Saturday and hoping you can help. I tried check calibration options but was not able to resolve. Hoping you can work some magic. 1. PP shows a tailwind the whole way. That day there was a strong wind (prob avg 20MPH). Tailwind was present mile 10-21. Headwind was pr...

Power Reading High

Hi John, I rode around the neighborhood to see if the power from PPV3 looked good. Power was high. Riding easily, it was in the 200w range and when I accelerated hard it read 800 watts which I can't do. Check Calibration adjusted average power from 188w down to 143w. It said that the tilt was 3.7%, ...

headwinds both ways

Hi John and Team, Noticed that latest ride file showed a headwind for over 95% of the ride, which is odd because it was an out and back ride. I ran Analyze Wind and it didn't make any changes. Do you have any recommendations about this file and about my PPV3? Velocomp_09_19_2020_1724_26_Miles_HiDef....

Re: Ride Check Please

Hi John, Thanks much for the feedback. I modified CdA to 0.42 based on feedback you had given a cross rider. I am 5'9" with real broad shoulders and am on the hoods most the time. Some of those dogs were good runners and the adrenaline would spike. My wife wants me to carry mace, but I worry ab...

Ride Check Please

This ride was on gravel, which was very rough (bone shaking) at times. There were also some sections on paved where I would get in a tuck. Power recorded on those sections was around 300-350w. Wind was moderate. Had several dog chases. PP recorded high watts during these very brief accelerations.

Re: PP V3 Does Not Seem Calibrate

Hi John and team, Rode 55 miles over weekend and there was what seemed to be strong headwind or sometimes strong crosswind in the second file (18 miles). Geared down and pedaled harder. PP was recorded between 105-110w and didn't fluctuate much even if I felt like I was pedaling harder. I am sure it...

Different Tire Sizes and Tire Pressure Change

Question about my configuration, John. I am running lower tire pressure than formerly to give more compliance/lower roughness of gravel roads. When I loaded the last cal file in Edit Profile I bumped tire pressure down to 35 lbs. Also, my gravel bike has 38mm tire on the rear and 42mm tire. I know t...

Re: PP V3 Does Not Seem Calibrate

Hi John, Thanks. On some of the descents there were some big hits (potholes). I assume that is what happened. The low power reading when getting back on power wasn't the 2-3 second delay I have gotten used to. Under power the readings were 20-50watts for 10 seconds under power. It was odd. Agreed. I...

Re: PP V3 Does Not Seem Calibrate

Hi John, Thanks for the support. The ride had the 4.524 value as I had already left before the correction was sent. I see that wind scaling in attached file ended up at 3.017. The ride went pretty well except for one thing. When the bike was at a slight negative or positive slope the power reading w...

Re: PP V3 Does Not Seem Calibrate

Hi John,

A few parameters are out of bounds so it would not load. See the attachment. What do you recommend I adjust the values to?

Thanks,

Re: PP V3 Does Not Seem Calibrate

I am planing a ride with about 7000' of climb tomorrow and would like to limit/monitor my power using PP. If we don't have time to get a good calibration today, can I use the "better" calibration for good enough? Or, I pulled another calride and ride file from 7/19 in case they are better....

Re: Power Reading Pedaling Through Sand

Thanks, John. Interesting. Then if I were out riding and there were sections of mud the same thing would happen.

I believe it was at 1:47:33 where my pedaling efficiency went down momentarily

Thanks

Re: PP V3 Does Not Seem Calibrate

Calibrated this morning and it went more nominally. cal and ride file are included. Power readings are high. Thanks for the assistance. Procedure used 1. Wake up sensors. Could see them all on Garmin 2.Turn on PP in sync mode by holding button down 4 seconds. Unit turns on and flashed green 3.Ride a...

PP V3 Does Not Seem Calibrate

Have enjoyed incorporating power into my training and the wealth of data I get. Looking for some help with calibration.Have had about a dozen rides, so I know my Garmin sensors and Garmin 520 communicate fine. Attempting to calibrate, my unit does not operate per the provided instructions. 1. Wake u...

Power Reading Pedaling Through Sand

As I was struggling to pedal through a section of sand on an otherwise smooth trail my speed slowed and my effort level went way up. The section of sand was about 200-300 feet. However, my PP didn't show power going up but registering lower at about 120w. Is riding through sand a situation that PP d...

Re: Struggling with the PowerPod

Before I saw your reply John I went out and was able to get PP to pair. Got it to go to solid yellow. Got it to go to alternating Red/Green. Got it to go to flashing yellow. Watched wattage go up. However, it went up really quickly. Got up to 50 watts in about .5 miles. Turned Trainer Mode to Off. D...

Re: Struggling with the PowerPod

Today I mounted my PP and attempted to calibrate it. I paired to my ANT+ devices and went through the out and back procedure. Things were looking good and I was looking forward to some power readings. However, when I was riding fairly hard uphill and could only get 90 watts to read and then when I r...

Re: CdA: the importance of a properly maintained bike

I agree. It happens. I recently found that my headset was not tightened all the way and had play in it. I took the fork out, cleaned everything out and regreased the bearings. Much better now. The root cause of the looseness was that I hadn't sufficiently tightened screw at the top of the fork as mi...
