Sorry for VeRY late response! Stopped recording power for a while as riding habbits changed.
Was doing well in showers. Always stayed showing sensible readings at times where it’d normally stop working. Never tested in a proper deluge though.

Re: Protecting my ports from rain
I forgot to ask - with the learning does that happen every ride until i recalibrate or will it learn and store the learnt change for next ride. So in effect its a continual process so i can forget redoing calibration rides?

Re: Protecting my ports from rain
Rain was enough to p*** me off! Especially as i thought i’d miss it so left the shower proof top at home! On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being a little spit here and there to 10 being torrential it was around a 4-5. Enough to fill my shoes and soak me to the skin. I normally tend to angle pp down slightl...

Re: Protecting my ports from rain
morning ride in the rain - you can see the big spike then it settles early on. evening ride - not sure what happened but it didnt seem to register power to start with which you can see with the big lag before settling. I need to swap stem and reset myu bars so will inevitably need to do another calb...

Re: Protecting my ports from rain
Will do. I’ll upload when i get back tonight. Not sure about the calibration though. Knocked the pod and mucked up the angle calibration so watched it “learn” for the first 15mins or so. Not sure it settled at the right level but will post anyway. Come the weekend i’m going to redo the calibration/s...

Re: Protecting my ports from rain
Well, after months of no rain in my rides combined with weeks off after shoulder surgury I finally got to test it. 1 hr commute with 45mins getting soaked through the rain, averaging around 18mph into the wind and rain. PP kept working where I’d have expected it to give up. I can see the pitot tube ...

Re: Why do I need to do a daily calibration ride?
Hard reset - connected to sensors no issues. Charged Took it out to pair, woke sensors. Turned on powerpod. Pairs then goes to calibration orange light. Connected to laptop, extracted profile and there’s my “extracted profile 1” with aero calcs but tilt is “empty”. Am i better off just starting set ...

Re: Why do I need to do a daily calibration ride?
I shall give it a try. I’d forgotten the hard reset! TBH it took me a while to remember the 5 clicks to turn off. Interestingly, just got home from work, did the hard reset before anything else and it paired to my sensors no bother.  Tis charging and will check out the profiles via the ...

Why do I need to do a daily calibration ride?
Forgive me if I missed something with the new firmware but as the subject line says? Each day I come to my powerpod, wake the sensors and it settles on orange and I have to do a calibration. Here's what I've done: Powerpod = V3 with a pitot tube. F/W 9.01 1) I resurrected my powerpod after several m...

Re: Protecting my ports from rain
Initial mould. Need to let it cure. Then wait for some rain!!
Tis a bit crude but not overly noticeable under my speedo.
John - if it works, I already filed a patent!!!

Re: Protecting my ports from rain
I shall indeed give it a try.
I guess the key thing will be to do the set up and calibration with it in place.
Shoulder op first so may be a while but will feed back results when its done.

Protecting my ports from rain
I’ve never had success using the powerpod in rain due to ports blocking. I’ve got a V3 with pitot tube and vaguely remember that there’s a pressure port or something underneath that the rain can block and its not the front tube that blocks. I was wondering about making a shield with sugru mouldable ...

Re: Changing Weight and Consistency
Cracking! I wasnt overly sure how all the science in the background worked, especially with the weight being one of the profile settings.
Nothing major to worry about is all I wanted to hear!!
Much appreciated.

Changing Weight and Consistency
First up, just want to be clear that accuracy is not in question here, it’s consistency! A significant part of my riding is my 40 mile daily commute so I tend to go for train heavy race light. Commute on my ally bike with frame bags and sprint a bit, go steady a bit and so on. Then switch to the lig...

Superb thanks. Yeah....family dont like to see me “playing out” too much when everyone is supposedly locked down so have to kill as many birds with one stone as I can. All legitimate exercise
Wind was consistent throughout so thanks for checking it over.

Calibration Check
A steady away pootle after mucking around with the tilt at the weekend. Seems a massive change in friction from pre-movement and a substantial drop in power....although i was taking it really easy so could believe it being that low. PLease could you check it out and see if it's OK.
Thanks
John.
Thanks

Will give it a try thanks. Got mudguards and pitot tube so will try and angle down more.

Any way to use it in the rain?
As the title says. So far 0 success in the rain. I get sensible readings for maybe 20mins tops then max power sometimes even in single digits as the wind tube gets blocked.
Given the UK weather is 92.6% rain, 7% heavy cloud and 0.4% sun i was hoping to be able to use it a bit more!

Re: Powerpod V3 causing drops in estimated cadence
Just to add, I’m using an edge 1030 Firmwatlre that came out late sept 20 - 10.5 I think? Earlier this week - computer paired to cadence sensor and appears PP also paired to same sensor. Despite garmin showing connected to the sensor for cadence and despite the earlier post saying something about to...

Will do. Work / childcare so it’ll be a couple of days but will try and get out Thursday for a quick ride. And just so you know what “process” i did: 1) activate wheel sensor 2) turn on PP and wait for pairing to complete 3) turn on computer 4) turn on HR & Cadence and wait till edge shows “cade...

Re: Powerpod V3 causing drops in estimated cadence
Exposed a bug or is the bug? Not convinced PP is the problem. Here’s my cadence 2 paired directly to my edge 1030. Check out the regular drops. I just think the garmin handles the drops better than PP and hides it better when theres a signal break. I’m going back to magnets....just as soon as i can ...

Re: Pitot Tube Calibration
I saw the other post but havent followed all of it. I’ve got 2 bikes with same cadence speed set up. I see firmware confirmed issue from that post but on both bikes I get that drop without my powerpod on the bike: Edge 1030 and cadence / speed 2 sensors. I just put it down to a garmin problem and ge...

Re: Pitot Tube Calibration
Using and edge 1030 and the garmin cadence/ speed 2. What do you mean by a problem? To low and dropping out? In fairness i dont refer much to cadence since i got my PP but have noticed regular 67 rpm drop outs and nowhere near my usual 100rpm. Computer is on an outfront and havent changed the batter...

Re: Powerpod V3 causing drops in estimated cadence
FWIW i have the garmin cadence 2 crank sensor and noticed the same thing when it was paired to my PP. i paired it directly to my edge 1030 and same issue. I’m fairly sure its something to do with the garmin sensor as i had no such issue with my £10 basic magnet sensor. Switched to a supposed upgrade...

Pitot Tube Calibration
just got my pitot tube to try and get to grips with cross wind readings.
Here's my first ride with it. A straight out and back 18 mls all up. Noticed a fairly sizeable hike in power on my computere and sure enough ISAAC confirms. Please could you check the calinbration for me. Thanks.

Re: Cross winds and random numbers
Will do.
I’m not sure whether something in my set up / position changed. I know I’ve had A lazy august but avg ride dropped from 2-220 down to 180-190 About 2 weeks ago after a week off. 220 was hard. Now 190 Avg feels twice as hard! Although the wind is also twice as strong at the moment.
