Re: Using CdA from AP?
1) Your WSF is pretty high, and the large headwinds on downhills are suspicious. I'm not confident your wind calibration is correct. Excessive headwinds would cause high watts, forcing you to lower CdA to correct. I have adjusted the WSF=2.0 to make this ride work, but another ride yesterday I had ...

Re: Using CdA from AP?
I post in steps. 1. Take a CdA measurement of my Surly CdA=.600 (this is very slow commuter bike with 38mmx700c tires) 2. Transfer that measured CdA to my PowerPod. 3. Calibrate the wind scaling factor on the PowerPod. 4. Adjust the CdA on the Surly profile to use on the PP for a stand alone power m...

Using CdA from AP?
I used my AeroPod to carefully measure my CdA on my commuter bike. I am not concerned with aerodynamics on this bike, but I thought I would have an accurate measurement of power with my PP if I used the CdA derived from my AP. This doesn't seem to be the case. In order to have the data be believable...

Re: New AeroPod firmware 7.06
When you do a cal ride, 3 files are generated: 1) the "0-50" file, where WSF and accelerometer are calibrated 2) the "70-100" file, where default CdA is measured 3) the "after 100" ride file, where any subsequent riding is recorded. This was a Cal ride in one of the &q...

Re: New AeroPod firmware 7.06
Does this FW go back to generating a Cal ride file for a calibration ride? I did one this morning before heading out on a ride, and when I came back I saw one of those in the AP. It did also auto adjust the WSF for my metric century. The WSF shifted back down to something closer to what it was befor...

Re: Funky wind data this AM
I set the WSF to 1.7 in the profile. It appears to be doing ok since it first shifted (no new shifts). It also seems to be tracking the wind ok at higher speeds. That was a big concern of mine (my PP had issues with this). If it shifts again, I will send it to you.

Re: Funky wind data this AM
Did an experiment. Switched to profile #3 and it is also misbehaving in warmer weather and the non variable CdA profile, so probably not a software issue with the new FW. Do I send it in? A wind scaling factor of 1.7 makes me believe there is now a hardware or blockage issue. The port and tube look ...

Re: Funky wind data this AM
My concern is that it is a big shift that I have never seen before. I have used it in near freezing weather, and it has shifted a little in really cold weather, but never .973 to 1.71. That is what my PP started doing when it started going bonkers all the time.

Re: Funky wind data this AM
Ok, it looks like it loaded ok. Wind was dead calm, and in order to get the ride data to match I had to go from .973 to 1.71 on the wind scaling factor. Something is off, and everything I can think of I have tried.

Funky wind data this AM
Went out to measure the CdA of my commuter with the new firmware. I have been using AP on it by itself as a PM all this week with no issues. Ideal wind scaling factor for all my bikes with the sensor out in the clear. Added DFPM this morning, and showing 4mph tailwind the whole ride. Just to verify ...

Re: Isaac Power Calculation
So if I have ruled out errors from weight, Crr, and wind, the only thing that is left is slope. I notice the CdA readings go nuts when we hit rolling hills or otherwise not flat conditions. I can see fluctuations on my ride to the beach from CdA=.250-.350 that is a large fluctuation, and the data do...

Isaac Power Calculation
I wanted to do an experiment by trying to write a python script that would change the elevation data in a TCX file to known good elevation data from a LiDAR file. Does Isaac recalculate power when I swap out elevation while merging an .ibr ride with a .fit or .tcx file? I am interested in seeing how...

Re: So what is up?
For best CdA results a very flat ride about a mile out and a mile back for my tests. A road across a levy or dam is a very flat road. Rollers (rolling hills) seem to throw things off with the current firmware. I am not 100% sure what causes this, but I am thinking it doesn't quite nail the grade to ...

p.s. Change the smoothing to 30s in the profile or on your garmin, and you won't see the gnarly spikes.

Re: Powerpod issue wind
Golden Cheetah gave you a CP(1hr) of 312W, that is pretty much equal to FTP. That is a pretty beastly FTP. If that is what you expected, you are good to go. That would put you as a Cat 2 racer per your FTP/Kg.

Re: I think the wind sensor died on my century ride
Went out for a ride, and wind delta was reading zero both directions. I measured the wind with my Kestrel at 1.5mph. Trees were visible moving in this short little ride. Connected it to Isaac, and there was no file there. I had not messed with anything yesterday after the ride. I simply downloaded t...

Re: I think the wind sensor died on my century ride
I checked at the end (after I saw my data that is what I suspected), and it was clear. It is possible some water dribbled into the port when I refilled my hydration system at the first SAG. That is about where the SAG stop was. However, would it do that for the whole 100mile ride? You think it would...

I think the wind sensor died on my century ride
Everything looks good for the first 20ish miles, then you can see it goes to heck. I was windy (but not 35mph), and there were many places where made 180deg turns on the course and should have been seeing head/tailwind shifts (gps data is merged in the ride file). Have a look. iBike_02_09_2019_0634_...

Re: Powerpod issue wind
The PowerPod does not deal with crosswinds too well. Especially at 3 and 9 o'clock positions (as far as I can tell). If it is windy, do your FTP test on a steeper hill if you can still get your ideal cadence with your lowest gear. I imagine overheating won't be an issue in the Netherlands :D If your...

Re: Powerpod issue wind
I did a power curve for your ride. if you rode pretty hard (it looks like you did), then you FTP is about what you tested at previously (or higher if you held back on this ride). I would say, your power data looks pretty good. This is by no means scientific -- you would have to do what I suggested t...

Re: Powerpod issue wind
If you have an indoor trainer, you can put it in trainer mode and do an FTP test (make sure you can stay cool enough to do the 20min test indoors). Then do an outdoor FTP test on a different day (rested) outdoors going up a slight hill for 20min. If they are comparable, you are good. The power pod u...

Re: Powerpod issue wind
It looks ok to me. Average winds equal average wheel. That is a good sign as long as you returned to the place you started and the wind did not change during the ride. I have no way to confirm any other parameter however. Nothing looks out of the ordinary if you are riding a road bike, and weigh 165...

I would agree about the slope sensors. There maybe some lag involved. I say as flat as possible, and tempted to bust out my surveyor's transit

Re: Is there an issue with my PowerPod?
This is a bit of a confusing post: 1) This seems to be about your PowerPod, though you say you have an AeroPod (too?). 2) You say you sent your PowerPod back for repair. What repair was done, and when? I don't see any record of a repair in our system. My recollection is that you had a broken tab......
