Re: Battery Charge

John,
I asked the same question over a year ago, https://velocompforum.com/viewtopic.php ... 301#p24301
Your reply indicated that discharging in 10 days is normal, now you seem to be saying it should last at least four weeks

Re: O&B ride and sensor pairing

Just getting my head round profiles. I set up a profile in Isaac, send it to PowerPod then do a sensor pairing. At this stage, the profile in Isaac doesn't "know" about the sensors but the profile in PowerPod does. If I want to modify the profile (e.g. new slimline me :) ) I should extract...

Re: O&B ride and sensor pairing

I updated the profile on the PowerPod, I've lost a couple of kg ( :) ), and the next ride it made me do another calibration. Is that normal? :?: Also, it didn't pick up the cadence sensor, I would have expected it to remember that from the last time. Is that normal? :?: EDIT: I've been thinking. Sho...

Re: please check file

<snip> The date on the file name is wrong as i rode this today. not sure how to change that. In Windows: right click then choose rename or Two left clicks (i.e click, pause, click, not a double click which would open the file) then edit the file name. To set PowerPod's date make sure your system ti...

Re: O&B ride and sensor pairing

Most of the time I do coast on downhills, but every now and again I like to see how fast I can go and it's a little disconcerting to feel I'm putting in lots of effort and have PowerPod tell me 0 watts or 10 watts or something equally silly. I know I'm putting out more power than that. It would be n...

Re: O&B ride and sensor pairing

I'm still not convinced of the PowerPod's accuracy on downhills. I often find my display showing 0 watts when I know I'm putting power through the pedals. The attached file shows this quite well at about 14 miles. You can see that the cadence increases then drops a few times I'm changing up through ...

Re: O&B ride and sensor pairing

And here's the second calibration ride, this time with the cadence sensor paired. Powerpod seems to think I had a tailwind for both parts of an out and back ride, which is strange. Here's the ride on Strava. (The first ride didn't upload to Strava so it didn't happen. :D) https://www.strava.com/acti...

Re: O&B ride and sensor pairing

Hi John

Here's the first ride file from China. I think my cadence sensor didn't pair with the PowerPod so I'll most likely have to try again and do another calibration ride. The power numbers look about right.

NB The ride would have been a bit longer but I forgot to fill my water bottle.

Re: O&B ride and sensor pairing

Hi John
I've remembered a quiet, flat, single lane road close to where I'll be staying but it's only about half a mile long. How fast do I need to go? At 10 mph that's about 3 minutes. Will that be long enough for a calibration ride? Is it time based or distance based?

O&B ride and sensor pairing

Hi John, I have a couple of questions: 1. In January I will be going to China and setting up Powerpod on a different bike so I'll need to do an out & back ride. The roads where I ride in China are wide, with cycle lanes at each side so the "back" part of the ride would be four traffic ...

Re: How long should my PP keep charge for?

... Starting from a full charge, in the off state the battery will go about 15-20 days. My experience is about half that. Mine went from fully charged to dead in less than 10 days. I.e. It was fully charged, then 10 days later it was dead. It's not a problem now because I keep it permanently connec...

Re: How long should my PP keep charge for?

My experience: I'd left my PowerPod connected to my laptop until it was fully charged then left it disconnected for about 10 days before my next ride and it was dead. Like you, I was surprised at how quickly it lost its charge. I then connected it to a USB charger and my next ride was fine except it...

Re: Avoiding recalibration at the start of a ride

Whenever PP is awake and the wheel with the speed sensor is moving, PP thinks you're riding the bike. So, after the ride, the bike is in a funny position, for example lying on its side, with the wheel turning, that could screw-up the tilt calibration. To prevent this, you can click the button five ...

Re: Avoiding recalibration at the start of a ride

time you attach PP to your bike, make sure you (gently) press on the top of it, behind the button, to rotate PP sky-ward. When you feel PP tabs hit the mount, tighten the screw so that PP cannot rotate. If you get PP mounted at the same angle for each of your rides, even your first 90 seconds shoul...

Re: Avoiding recalibration at the start of a ride

I have the latest firmware. Displaying zero watts or unfeasibly high watts for the first half mile was still a minor irritation.

My bike lives in the garage where there is no power outlet so the PowerPod can't stay on the bike.

Avoiding recalibration at the start of a ride

I think I must be a bit slow on the uptake but I think I finally figured out why my PowerPod was recalibrating at the beginning of every ride. I had followed the instructions, making sure the PP was pushed all the way forward in the mount etc but still it would show either zero watts or unfeasably h...

Re: Calibration - Numbers Off???

I would replace the Wahoo sensor with one from Garmin. The Wahoo sensor has dropout problems--something that is widely known. You won't see speed dropouts on Strava or your bike computer. They last for a very short period of time. This is not enough to cause overall problems, but it is a big issue ...

I'm in Germany. I bought mine from ProBikeKit last November. They ship to many European countries, including Portugal, for free. https://www.probikekit.co.uk/cycling-power-meters/powerpod-powermeter-v2/11514777.html I think they don't have the BLE version, but I'm a bit confused about the V2 in the...

Question about downhill power (and a couple of other Qs)

Hi John I've been using my Powerpod for a couple of months now and I have a couple of questions. First my setup: I use a Wahoo Rflkt and the Wahoo phone app on my Android phone so I have a lag of about a second or two. I'm used to it and it isn't a problem. 1. When climbing or riding on the flat, th...

Re: Getting PowerPod to work on Linux

As a new owner of a Powerpod I'd just like to express my thanks to Bucko for his "How To". I tried running Isaac in WINE and it works but I couldn't get USB working. I then tried it in Virtualbox as described by Bucko. I followed his instructions and it worked a treat. 1. I enabled COM1 an...
